just when you thought one baccalaureate thread was one too many here's another.
Any teachers north of the, soon to be, great divide been involved with "delivering" this. I think I'm about to be asked to run it this year and given the short time to application dates I need to find out as much as I can.
No!
Seems to be the realm of the more academic subjects; I am but a mere techie teacher.
*returns to security of workshop, wood shavings and the sound of kids making large pieces of wood much smaller*
I presented one student for it a year ago. It's just a glorified group award - a bunch of compatible advanced highers and highers but with the addition of a long essay/assignment that joins together a couple of the subjects. My student did ah biology and computing, it worked out well for him.
Hardly any schools are presenting students for this and it looks like it will quietly die out. Nobody knows anything about them either so they have little value. I'd question it's value.
My wife was involved in introducing it in one of the private schools in Scotland. If you PM me your email address I can put you in touch if you like. She's just recently moved to a school in London but she has contacts in various schools in Scotland involved in running Baccalaureate programs.
I'm not sure how relevant it is outside the private school sector but for them it was relevant given they teach quite a few foreign students.
Epic its my user name at gmail.com. I was at Edinburgh Academy until recently and see that Dollar are used as a case study. I think we're trying to get the pupils as many UCAS points as possible. This and the fact the school i'm currently at is at the lowest point on the poverty indicator makes it relevant for our more academically able pupils.
My lad is doing it this year, in his 6th year - being supervised by a science / physics teacher I think. Science Bacc IIRC. Not sure if it's the same as what you're asking after. It's a bit of a mystery to me too; part of him trying to get more points I think, though really he's fine enough 🙂
