Just watched it with my kids they were nicer to me with the equaliser than i was to them with the second free kick

Football is awesome but FFS can we ever beat them

Only watched the last 30 minutes. Two great free kicks, but from what I saw the draw was the fair result. Obviously tomorrow is more important 😉

Well that was the worst Scottish tactical decision since Labour decided to give the Tories 15 seats

"Get into they Tory bastards " was the cry from the English fans.

What was the music they played right at the end montage?

Would have been 0-0 with a couple of decent keepers!

Forgot it was on - had a txt from my brother saying how boring it was. Switched on to see the first Scottish free kick go in. Better than watching highlights!

Free kick leading to final goal looked soft to me, but if we'd defended and cleared the ball properly then would of won. Getting tired of the this snatching defeat from the jaws of victory shite.

Not sure about Englands equaliser but the other 3 goals looked like keeper error to me . Joe Hart was wrongly positioned for both the free kicks and Englands first goal could have been saved . I think Fraser Forster has been Englands best goalie now for a few years by a good margin .

the first one is close range and goes over the wall he was not beat on his side so you have to credit the goal rather than blame the keeper and same for the second

nothing any keeper can do for those

Great technique for the free kicks, I agree, but both were from pretty far out, and not right into each corner. Hart should have got closer to them both I feel. Craig Gordon should have stopped the fist goal, it was straight at him at a decent height - maybe the sun was in his eyes and I thought he could have come from the cross for the second. Although Armstrong gifted the opportunity to cross the ball.

Forster always looks pretty solid to me but there was an odd stat going round last season in relation to the amount of saves per shots. He was up (down there) with Claudio Bravo!

agree with all of that but you cannot fault a keeper who dives full length to a ball over the wall that he cannot reach

If it is over the wall then it is almost never the keepers fault as he cannot get to the other side

Just not his fault

Well he could try standing in a more central position on his goal line otherwise he is just saying get it over the wall and down and you are going to score , which from that range isn't that hard . Also having been beaten once because of wrong positioning he did exactly the same for the second goal . Two well executed free kicks mind you .

Yes he could stand where he cannot see the ball and wait to see where it appears above the wall and then react to that [ not enough time to react ] or he could do what every single keeper in the world does and put the wall to cover one side and cover the other side and stand where he can see the ball.

When the ball goes over the wall and in the side they are not covering it is just not their fault, its just a great free kick struck to a place they cannot reach.
Is this just Joe hart hating or do folk really not understand football?

A few reviews that back up my point .

Also , having looked at your link it says the goalkeeper should stand so that he can see the ball just beyond the last man in the wall . If you look at the first goal Joe Hart has a wall , then there are 2 Scotland players on the end of that wall and then another England player . Joe Hart has positioned himself as if the Wall ends with the player beyond the 2 Scotland players when he should base his position on the last man actually in the wall .

This time Hart was engulfed by the perfect footballing storm of a brilliant set-piece from Griffiths, a wall that did not jump and poor positioning from the goalkeeper himself, too far over to his right to be able to get near Scotland's equaliser.

unless he wishes to block his own vioew with the wall where are you or him expecting him to stand?

What is wrong with his position

Truth is wall protects one side keeper the other

Player beats wall and gets it down then its a good goal rather than keeper error

There was something that felt wrong about Hart’s attempts to save, perhaps the positioning itself, that made you wonder if another goalkeeper would have got there.

Again where do you want him to stand - where he cannot see the ball

Perhaps being a keeper is a specialist position and folk have no idea about it?

The reality is if you stand where you cannot see the ball then you have less time to react can only see it once it clears the wall . he is still stood where every keeper would be stood so criticising his position is an argument from ignorance.
the second BBC is the same reporter again and you have to be a hart hater to give him less than Gordon 😯 no one is denying gordon was at fault for the first goal but blaming hart for them both is harsh

Sometimes you just have to accept it was a great free kick and accept this fact

See my edit written while you typed your comment .

Had it gone just inside the post then it would have been a great free kick and pretty well unsaveable but the reality is it was a good free kick but one which could have been saved by a goalkeeper on top of his game . Once you start to accuse people who disagree with your point of view as coming from a point of ignorance , or not understanding the game then you have pretty much lost the argument .

Yes you are correct- i just re watched it and I retract my objection [ and apologise 😳 ] he is in the wrong position for the first one [ 4 mins]the second one[4.40] he is possibly 1/2 step the wrong way but he does not know if it will be a right or a left footed effort and that one is pretty much next to the post as it is curling so I think we can call that a great free kick personally.
