grrrr.

so three weeks ago i get an email, and i quote, saying "we would like to book you from 15-21 October for....".

"ok" says i.

and today i get an email saying:

"Put-in: 17.10 & 18.10.
Take down: 21.10 begin at 14:30"

so what originally looked like seven days work has turned out to be 2 1/2.

i'm a bit pissed off at this. i've turned down a 5-day job in Istanbul for this, my thinking being that i was away last week in Barcelona and with it being local i can spend a bit of time with the GF. and the Istanbul job would have been a better earner.

so, i'll be seeing more of the GF than expected, i guess... i hope the weather improves and i can ride my bike.

What's your job? Is this sort of thing normal? Does sound a bit of a pisser..
Edit- woohoo- pisser made it past the swear filter..

i'm a chippy & joiner. do quite a bit of work for conferences and bespoke trade fair stands (Barcelona was a large conference for VMWare and this coming job is for a Macdonald's stand at the Bavaria Conservative Party (CSU) conference). work is split about 60/40 between workshop and on-site.

yeah, i'm thinking that, too, Cougar. or, maybe... i'm hoping that they want me for a few days prior and for stand-by. i'll call tomorrow before getting too pissed off...

Happens to me all the time...

"Oh yeah, sorry, meant to let you know, we're having a load of plumbing done, and some doors fitted. You can start the following Monday though, can't you?"

Err, no.

Or...

"Yeah, can you do it next week?"

Bill them for the week as originally booked.

Oh that we could...in practice though, it just doesn't happen.

+1 - I presume the quote was for the full week?
