boring question: Ivor floppy bag which, if I stuffed full, would be over the 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. It's not going to be packed full, and it's only going to have clothes in it, and it'll easily stuff into one of those size checker crates.
With any other airline, I wouldn't be concerned, but this isn't any other airline. Do they measure bags in a different way? "resting, unconstrained dimensions" or some guff?
Should I lube up and bring cash?
Ta!
If it'll fit in the tester thing they use without a lot of force and without distorting it - you'll be fine
I've been on at least 3 Ryanair flights this year where they've been asking people at the gate to test their bags
We flew Ryan to France and back a couple of weeks ago, I didn't see them check any carry on baggage, so maybe they only check obviously large items? We check ours in the gauge before any staff arrived at the gate, and we had one that was pretty tight.
They do pick people out of the queue if they look like their bags are over
They've now started to use cardboard cages to check at the gates so maybe harder to get slightly oversize stuff through
I flew Ryan air to Faro last month. Didn't see one person checked.
I think as long as it'll go in the guage you'll be fine.
a coat with huge pockets helps
Flew with Ryan air back in May, theya re fine going out but coming back in they were going around checking everyones bag with a cardboard frmae and then charging those that were over. There also wasn't enough room on the plane for all the bags so a lot went into the hold anyway
Great, ta! Depending on how flimsy the cardboard containers are, we should be fine.
I wouldn't be surprised to see 200gsm card with 1" tabs of selotape on the corners. If it rips or busts, it's going in the hold.
Bit tight to insist duty free, cameras etc go in the carry-on too. Hey, ho. You pays your money and takes your choice..
Edit: iDave, pockets will be well utilised. Going to Fuerteventura, so a coat will be a bit OTT. Nevertheless, I shall be taking a coat!
Just need less wind and a decent swell, now!
