lots of bridleways and two small woods, wakerley and finshade with a few trails in but nothing that will get your suspension moving very much.

Gently undulating and could be ridden on a Chopper/Grifter but some really good beer/pubs to visit, bad memories of there anyway, got married in Empingham!

I ride rigid SS round there and I'm easily the fastest person on the lakeside, you will look very silly on a big full suss. Maybe just go the whole hog with full face and armour, if you are going to look a prat, do it properly.
Far too many family types dithering around all over the place. Just take your road bike and head out Rockingham way, quite pleasent.

thats quite a boast 8)
not the rigid ss bit . i have ridden round there on an ss and its quite hard trying to keep up with a good geared rider as its all too flat except the odd bump( not that i'm that quick)

Elite XC racer.
Also, maybe I only go on the days when the really slow people are there.
Or maybe the faster guys are so far ahead I don't see them.

I will re-phrase as 'I've never been overtaken there.'

And yes, 27 is about right, though closer to 25 I think. 17 if you miss out the sticky-in bit in the middle.

it's more of a challenge with a stiff headwind blowing, i did a ride with mtbmaff there once and he managed to buckle a wheel riding in a pub car park (full of alfresco drinkers, oh how they and i laughed as he binned it) first time i've seen a wheel trued against a rock though-class

i was only pulling your chain ๐Ÿ˜‰
there sure are some dawdlers round there.
how are the flys this year. i only go round it in the winter as i got fed up of eating them all the way round
and as for the 25 miles or so. if your used to hilly riding it wont seem very far

Yeah with the peninsula it's 25 miles or so.
It's quite undulating so if u attack every climb you can get a decent workout from it. The wind can be pretty strong too.

Last time I went I did a lap with the peninsula and then one without - good for a bit of training.
Having recently only got a hardtail to go with the ful sus, I've always been round there on a full sus - who cares if people think you're a prat?
