GET IN!!
North? Wow.
What a game!
Wales should have been clear and gone with the amount of possession, territory and kicking opportunities they had in the 1st half.
They showed huge character in the last 15 minutes.
'contraversial' decisions
Should have been a red card. Few contraversial decisions against both sides I think
yes yes yes sounds like it was an aamazing game ๐
Where is Darcy? Just want to give him a hug and say that was a great match.
Apparently a very good game, then? Only bit i've seen is the awesome Welsh try and the yellow card following a nice cheap shot on Adam Jones at the breakdown - last time he got that treatment he had his shoulder dislocated for the Lions.
Fantastic!
controversial decisions ? the only really controversial one for me is Phillips not getting a card for the late shoulder charge. should have been yellow
controversial decisions ?
Davies- yellow or red?
Warburton- red or yellow?
Continuity, even the players are complaining about it, so forgive me if I ignore you.
That's easy. Davies should have been given a red. The touch judge got it wrong.
well, on the 'red button' commentary on the BBC they've just debated it for 90% of the show.
does anyone else hate Sonia McLaughlin's line of questioning? Is she the Jeremy Paxman of rugby commentary?
Gatland should have decked her.
Fantastic game, red card for Davies, I thought the penalty at the end was just though. Wales deserved it, George North...Freak.
Good end to an average 6N so far.
Did she really say,"don't do a Arsene Wenger on me?"?
During normal play I thought the ref was really good but them blew it with at least three errors (albeit linesman bottled the red). Still karma came through and probably balanced out in the end.
North then Debarty for players of the weekend (and that's from a forward). Best coaching bit - Ireland's ability to hold the ball up.
Davies should have got red. Ferris one was just a pen imo. I thought the ref did well controlled the breakdown and protected the 9 which allowed an open game.
Tj what did phillips do wrong?
The irish replacement lock thought he was Bakkies Botha but Bradley showed him he wasnt. Stupid thing to do and will mean ryan jones at lock next week if lydiate fit. A big loss of power.
Did i mention wanting to see parks given another shot?
Oh and that is again 2 nil Gatwards. Getting hook to improve distribution in midfield really helped.
anagallis_arvensis - MemberTj what did phillips do wrong?
deliberate and cynical late shoulder barge on the winger ( Bowe?) after a chip ahead.
Penalty was given but advantage played and a later penalty given. He was ticked off by the ref but should have got yellow.
Perfectly professional. Bowe wouldnt care. Your just jealous of a great 9
deliberate and cynical late shoulder barge on the winger ( Bowe?) after a chip ahead.
Par for the course and hardly worth a mention, not the ball carrier and hardly a life threatening challenge. It's comments like that that make me think you've never played TJ.
If Scotland are as careless next week as they were this weekend I think Wales can beat them by 15-20. They need to sort it out.
Hopefully our injured players can slowly return to fitness, we stand a good chance of going far in this competition.
Cynical and nasty - I very much dislike Phillips for his petulant and cynical foul play.
That should have been a yellow and he is constantly in there with the late hits a cynical fouls,.
I didn't say it was dangerous - but he deliberately took out the runner - it was very late.
If you think that sort of "professional" foul is acceptable then you accept cheating to win games
Edit - the ref and touches judges thought it wrong - they gave a penalty and Phillips got a telling off
Jolly good telling off. Tell you what if phillips was scottish they'd have scored more (i mean any tries) in the last 5 years.
Cynical and nasty sums up a good scrum half ๐
I thought the Phillips "challenge" was a yellow and I've played plenty. Late, no attempt to use arms. There was nothing legal about it!
Wrecker you say my judgement goes out the window! I thought both bowes and hooks intentional knock on should have been pens. Bowes yellow due to the two man overlap.
Seen the Phillips type move a million times in almost all matches, I don't like it and think it should have been yellow, but I don't see why Phillips should be singled out (and I don't like the guy either) loads of players do this, including some of your faves TJ.
I don't think you can award the cards because of what "may" have been! The fouls (if any) were near identical.
I really don't care who won, but I struggle to watch any match without siding for one team so I chose Ireland on this occasion. My judgement is far closer to neutral than yours! ๐
Toys - anyone who does that should be carded. Its a deliberate and cynical foul intended to prevent a opponent having a chance of scoring
IMO there is a difference between " annoying git" scrum half and "cynical cheat"
Even Dawson - I SH I would never have tired of slapping stayed on the right side of cheat mainly. Phillips does not - that was not jut a bit late it could have been timed with a calender. Cusitor winds up forwards and one day one will sort him out good and proper. He doesn't indulge in late off the ball shoulder charges tho
Spear tackle, in front of children. Disgusting and disgraceful behaviour.
The correct response to an attempt to turn a man into a quadriplegic in public surly is arrest, preferably with a tazer. That might stop it.
TJ you have more to say about the Welsh win than "your" sides performance yesterday ๐
Thats because cussiter is a big girl
wrecker dont agree bowes knock on was a cynical try stopper just short of a pen try. Its what yellows were invented for. Cannot believe the ref who was otherwise good thought it was acidental!
Anyway - best team of the weekend? What were France like - I didn't see the game. worth watching on Iplayer?
clearly Scotland and England were both utter pish
Pigface - MemberTJ you have more to say about the Welsh win than "your" sides performance yesterday
What else can I say? I posted how I saw it. Pish. Against a pish team. Pish squared?
Parks is a donkey, Robinsons a clown, I am soooooooooooooooooooo disappointed. Surely Robinson will not select Parks again and maybe we will get a new coach with some courage and ambition.
Scott Johnson FFS another failure. he is really going to help
I think the SRU should go all out to get Todd Blackadder.
France were good in the second half poor in first.
Is there any worse combination as a Fan to be a Scots rugby supporter and an England Cricket supporter? Its my curse to be so.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
*spits dummy*
Pick of the teams after weekend 1 is probably Wales. There was nothing between them and ireland today so I'd give it to Wales by virtue of ireland having home advantage.
Well after the first weekends games I cant see England beating anyone else other than Italy. Italy could cause an upset though either against Scotland or England. That likely leaves these three fighting it out for the wooden spoon.
that leaves Wales, Ireland and France fighting for the title with it coming down to Wales Vs France I think.
Wales and Ireland both played with a lot more tempo than I think England can manage and France are still a bit of an unknown, but all three should beat England.
glitchy bumpy thingy
Stats - ( lies and damn lies) make awful reading - Scotland hasd such dominence and scored Eff all
http://www.espnscrum.com/six-nations-2012/rugby/match/133768.html
Wales deserved the win (ok biased), was touch and go there mind, think 1/2p will be taking over all the kicking duties from now on. hopefully be a grandslam finish Wales and france ๐
those stats are crazy, they show that England didn't do very much... a bit of mauling and some turnovers. and a decisive chargedown doesn't show up.
I guess stats don't show heroic defending either... ๐
England didnt do much.
stat for the weekend...........No of caps for scottish centres -89. No. of caps for english centres - 0. It can only get better ๐ Ireland needed to play against 14 to get in front - Wales had to play some dirty play ( should have been a red that!)
Gottasay though...George North - how bloody strong is he!!! and only 19 ๐ฏ scary
Englnd did Eff all - It must be the worst England perfomance for along long time.
Thats a part of why its so disappointing. they were there for the taking
George North - how bloody strong is he!!! and only 19 scary
^^This. Lots and lots of this^^
North is a REAL talent for the future. As was the Scots 8 yesterday, very impressed.
We can argue all day if it was a red or not, but the fact is, the ref gave it a yellow. As such, the later Irish tackle also had to be a yellow. Neither was the right decision in retrospect, but that was the way it was called in the game.
Thrilling test match, though. Thrilling.
On to the next! ๐
