I need a new guide to work here in Tenerife.

Positives -
Great riding, Good hours, Brilliant weather

Negatives -
Only part time hours, rubbish money

Anyone interested as nobody seems to want to come off the bloody dole over here!

What exactly does the job entail? I've just finished uni and currently have no real job prospects!

Taking clients on guided MTB rides of between 28 and 70km.
Needs a full driving license as there is a minibus to drive.
First aid certificate is a necessity. One of the MTB leaders quals would be nice but not imperative.

It's the summer and that's the quieter time for us. So it currently doesn't involve taking tours every day and rider numbers can also be a little bit variable.

Some DH riding experience would also be good as we do DH tours too.

This is a proper opportunity if you fancy being a MTB style beach bum 😉

If you want any more info drop me an email (addy is in my profile)

Daz.

Not often people start out fit over here, but certainly end up that way 🙂
Time for my beauty sleep now, but will respond to any emails tomorrow afternoon / evening.

If these opportunities would have existed 25 years ago I'd have been there like a shot. Take it from an oldie, anyone who fancies this, do it now. You'll not get the chance later on in life.

Sigh - dream job (of old).

*Wonders if doing the tours and DH with a bike trailer would be possible*
**Wonders if a mortgage could survive this**
Wonders if commuting is appropriate
*Wonders if the stars will join?*
***************************************
There.

Tom do it. Life is for the moment and chances like these only come around once in a blue moon. It'll be hard tiring work but you'll get to live and ride in another country. It also will look good on any cv better than sitting on your arse watching daytime tv.

I've just finished uni and currently have no real job prospects!

As someone who was considering becoming a mature student that is quite depressing.

To be fair I've picked quite a useless degree (Media Production BSc) and at the minute the industry is ridiculously hard to get into.

I do have an opportunity to get into some kind of partnership with a friend, doing simple websites/photography and promo videos for small businesses, but tbh I don't like the idea and this sounds like more fun haha

Tom

A friend of mine runs a business who specialise in provising production people to ad agencies, she might have an idea on some grad type roles PM me if you're interested in a contact.

If I were you though I'd head for the sun!

Guys, thanks for the emails so far. Only 3 interested which I was quite surprised about. Guy's I have replied to you with the low down and you can decide if you are still interested from there.

To give a bit more info on open forum.

Summer is difficult for us here for a few reasons. 1, it's bloody hot. 2, The Alps are closer and potentially cheaper to get to, 3, They also have chair lifts 😉 4, Bookings tend to be last minute

So with this in mind it's difficult to say to anyone, you'll earn "this" much over 3 or 4 months. Having said that, I'm picking up more enquiries than I expected and the departure of my backup guide means that I'm posting up on here.

Initially I'm looking to cover Now until the end of September, but if it looks like the winter season will warrant it, this could be extended. Winter is our busiest time (October through to Easter) so who knows, the [s]person daft enough to want the job[/s]successful applicant could end up with a winter of riding in the sun rather than mud plugging with the rest of you!

Oh, I'm working on the possibility of being able to provide accommodation so that may help, but it's not a done deal yet.
