Yay - a pair of great tits have taken over one of our bird boxes.
Also sparrows gathering moss and feathers to start nest building in our hedge.

Lots of butterflies around atm.

Time to make some bird boxes I think, loads of wood lying around, no shortage of time...

Hijack! What feeders that only the wee birds can get? ravens, pigeons and magpie destroy the neighbours feeders in jig time.

We tried a feeder with a cage round but found it deterred the local birds from feeding at all. We now use the Squirrel Buster from the RSPB

We have three - two in use and a third so we can rotate them and clean regularly. Cleaning is very important, especially with the reported spread of trichomonosis. They're not cheap to buy and even less cheap to run - we've seen both emptied in a single day before now...

For the 1st time in 20 years we have Blue tits nesting in the garden, I managed to get this shot of one of them feeding the chicks

Nobeerinthefridge - you could build a bug hotel. Also a compost heap. All these things will help bring bird life into the garden or green space.
