Welcome to the club fella.

Learn from my experience. Don't bother spending every one of your days involved in the soul-destroying hunt for a job. Its pointless. There aren't any.

Get some freelance/contract work. The rest of the time just relax and go riding. You've got my email fella. If you fancy some midweek peaks action, give us a shout

Sorry to learn that you're out of work.

I had eight months out last year.

I hope you find something soon, good luck

😉

Good luck fella. I had 6 months out last year, very bleak and dis-heartening experience. Keep you head up and keep believing.

Good luck Pook - nearly six months unemployed now for me, apart from a spot of freelancing and writing an iPhone game which very few people have bought. On the plus side, after 6 months I can work for competitors and customers of my previous employer which might make things easier.

Damn likely means still a chance of staying, hope you can. If not good luck getting a job! 🙂

I'm a student, finding a job over the summer is proving rather difficult...

Just do it ASAP. Those clauses are completely unenforceable unless you actaully steal company data (ie, contact lists).

Commiserations. Five weeks for me so far 🙁

I think binners speaks the truth - try to stay upbeat and productive. I had a bad lull for a couple of weeks (Easter hols time I think) - when if seemed nothing was moving forward but it's looking more promising again now.

One of my clients could do with your sort of skills - they are cack at communicating internally despite employing not far off 20,000 people - we have to do it for them half the time! Not sure if they are recruiting though.

Ooh - thanks for asking. It's called 'CodeSpin', just a simple guess the code type puzzle. Just done to learn my way around XCode and Cocoa Touch really, but thought I'd tidy it up and release it. I've tried to make it more interesting by making it against the clock and adding a scoring system.

Trouble is unless it sells enough to get into the top sellers list, no-one ever sees it - chicken and egg situation.

Don't know if this helps but if you can do c++ or javascript/xsl/asp then I think we're looking for developers. Drop me a mail and I'll pass you some details.

Stu - that's the trouble, not really done any C++ or Java in anger. Used to be a C programmer then spent quite a few years as a technical author. I understand websites and can read php etc. but not an expert. C sharp seems to be where it's at currently so I'm teaching myself that.

If you need someone to document an API on the other hand, I have plenty of experience of that...

Mmm, gotta keep your skills at the sharp edge. Mind you, I'm getting pigeonholed.. could be a concern!

Its really hard at the moment to find a decent job even when you got skills. I've been out of work for 12 months and trying to get clients for my business in IT Support. I hope things pick up, as I am constantly looking for IT work

Are you all I.T. people?

Well it depends what you will do-I'm off at the end of June and will be taking some part time work as I aim to get fit and have some studies/exam courses in August and then nothing for a while.

Only call I got was Halfords for 4hrs on a Saturday building Boardmans, marking and observing exams and carework while I write a paper on my research.

Sometimes its good to take a break, step back etc have fun but don't leave it too long and don't rely on the applications. Just keep applying and if one says interview-then enjoy but don't rely on it or it leads to frustration.

Head up high Pooky

welcome brother! 14 months for me, but I'm in a niche market.

Apart from the cash, it has to be probably the best 14 months I've had this side of graduating!
