Forwards: Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney.

Pray that Rooney stays fit!

That doesn't look good. Here's hoping Lampard and Gerrard get some goals!

Lampard couldn't hit a barn door with a shovel once he dons an England strip

And Heskey? FFS?!!! He must have some dodgy poloroids of Capello with a transexual Donkey or something

If they could convince Darren Bent he's actually playing for Sunderland...

what happened to Agbonlahor? I would have thought his pace through the middle would have made him a good choice.

Isn't that Defoe? He was on fire at the start of the season, maybe the WC will inspire him. Despite the fact that he looks like he's playing the wrong sport, Crouch has always done his bit.

gerrard has had a naff season especially compared to lampard, but I reckon take him along and chuck him on the wing as he is occasionally used.

I must admit I thought it was a bit thin on the ground but as has been said - who else IS there? But I agree, Rooney just has to be fit.

Where is Zamorra? Where are Aston Villa players? Why is Carrick in?

Agree re Zamora - he must be gutted.

Isn't Milner in?

Carrick is needed for stability I would say - he is good in possession and can pass from the back.

Not sure I agree, he looks not very good most of the time and great every now and then.
I'm not sure, though, who I'd fit instead, Hargeaves would've been useful had he actually played this/last season.

I think he offers that security at the back - nothing fancy, just keeps the ball and passes it forward rather than punt it upfield. In international football, certainly against teams such as Brazil and Germany this is what is needed. I am not sure who else would provide that cover (apart from Hargreaves but he isn't fit so can't really be considered).

He's an over-rated shit scouser who never performs in an England shirt?

I'm surprised [s]Joe[/s] Carlton Cole hasn't been named in the 30 man squad. I thought he would have at least been given a chance in the 2 friendlies to prove his form. Especially given that he looked pretty good in the games he's played.
Amazed Upson is still in the squad. I'd rather have Sol Campbell back in the squad than him. In fact I'd rather have Tony Adams back in than Upson.

There aren't any other options, but Defoe only seems to score against lesser teams.

Out of that line up, only Rooney is world class when up against the best defenses in the world and likely to get a goal for us.

Crouch has always done well for us - all we need are refs that see past his size and stop blowing up every time they see his elbows near opponents faces - he isn't fouling, he can't bleeding help it!

we have enough pace & lack of end product in Lennon & Walcott, That area is covered haha!

Seriously I think all apart from Heskey deserve to be ahead of him in the pecking order

I think this is the same as gabby... only heskey is questionable, cant argue with the others!

What villa players? Young had his chance & didnt impress obviously, downing, lack of game, gabby, lack of goals

By taking Gerrard they have covered the 'Crying Player' position when we get knocked out in the first match after the group stages!

I'd do a good job actually. My natural speed and agility will take me past most defenders.

My inability to actually do anything useful beyond that might be an issue though.

Still, it'd be a better bet than Carlton Cole! 😀

"Gerrard 16"

Does sound a bit wrong, eh? 😯

Of course, it could all be scurrilous gossip with no foundation whatsover. Watch this space.

I hear you, but he doesn't play on the left wing for Liverpool, I think if we played him off Rooney we would see the real benefits of his attacking & creative ability! In past years he had to sit in midfield while fat frank fluffed his lines...

Anyway, My ideal starting XI would be...

Goalkeepers: David James
Defenders: Glen Johnson, John Terry Rio, Ferdinand, Ashley Cole,
Midfielders: Aaron Lennon, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard (Off Rooney), Gareth Barry, Joe Cole
Forwards: Wayne Rooney.

Await my fate haha

I am a part time football fan. Can someone provide me with a video link of why Rooney's meant to be such a good player? Backed up with analysis?
