I have a set of Toyota OEM bars (which I believe are Montblancs). They have a really irritating plastic key. Does anyone know if it's possible to swap the lock barrels for Thule ones? Google suggests 'some', helpfully.
The Thule locks are hardly secure, a screwdriver will open them as quick as the key (admittedly breaking them), but they're be no means thief proof.
I've always taken the view that anything on the roof is only secure when I can see it.
I get that; I'm more worried about the MB key snapping and not being able to get the bars off.
Is there a more secure alternative?
I always use a cable lock and lock whatever is on the bars to the roof bars of the car (if they have them) and also follow the "anything on the roof is only secure when I can see it" adage....
