Plusnet, bt socket on the wall modern apartment building....phone apparently on Monday. It all seems too simple... what's going to go wrong?

BT Openreach, that's what. Quite why the Monopolies and Mergers Commission aren't more active in this sham of a sham of a lining our own nests and milk it for all it's worth, I don't know.
