Died aged 84. Produced some excellent sitcoms and quiz shows.

I liked his style.

Wasn't love my neighbour supposed to parody the racists but as with till death do us part it was adopted by racists.

Racism was called something else when Love Thy Neighbour came out, colour prejudice m'thinks. Were we really ready for that level of parody in 197? I doubt it.
Edit: Actually maybe we were. It's got to be 40-plus years since it was on, but didn't Rudolph Walker always get the upper hand, whilst Jack Smethurst looked like an ignoramus?
