Give me a ping Vasily, one ping only.

RIP, one of those great under-rated actors that made a film better simply by his presence.

'Hunt for the Wilder people', is one of my all time favourite films. Sam is brilliant in it. A film that suits all age groups.

RIP

Ah no. Jurassic Park is still my all time favourite. Just watched it at the cinema again a few weeks ago. And Hunt for the Wilderpeople was just a joy to watch.

RIP Sam

I liked him the mini Merlin series in the late 90's with a nice twist in the end. Always seemed nice person.

Ah, sad. Pretty shocked when I read the thread title. News hasn't made IMDB yet... he was in so many great films and seemed like a lovely fella. Real sheep farmer. Was great in that recent series "Untamed". Only 78 🙁

I will confess, other than

  • Jurassic Park,
  • Event Horizon,
  • Hunt for the Wilderpeople
  • Which are all phenomenal films.

I don't think i have registered him in anything else*.

*I had actually forgotten he was in Event Horizon.

Until the End of the World was a really weird one. I remember my dad being obsessed with when it came out.

Such sad news, seemed like a genuinely lovely guy. My lad is obsessed with Jurassic Park/World and will be really upset.

I remember him from Reilly, Ace of Spies, which was pretty excellent by the standards of the day. Don't think I've ever seen him in anything bad, he was always guaranteed to turn in a great performance.

Genuinely saddened to read this, one of my all time cinema greats.

He had Non Hodgkins and was in remission which I was well happy about.

Very sad news.

Would recommend Rams, if you haven't seen it yet. I really enjoyed it.

The Piano.

Oscar-winning historical romantic drama, early 90's (actually very close in release to Jurassic Park).

He was in The Hunt For Red October as well alongside Sean Connery as the only Scottish captain in the Russian Navy! 😉

It's great that he got to "complete the story" in the final Jurassic World film though. That would not have been the same without him!

I can still remember the theme to Reilly, Ace of Spies in my head!

Undoubtedly a good move ... but he wasn't the first. That was a dutch (by birth) bloke How the Aboriginal flag ended up on a spaceship in the future | SBS NITV

It's the 33rd anniversary of the UK release of Jurassic Park this Thursday (16th July).

I used to buy Empire magazine; I remember the hype about the film, reading the review of it plus all the "making of..." articles and the interviews.

Can't remember when I actually saw it at the cinema, I do remember loads of the early screenings being sold out so it'll have been late July / early August by the time we saw it.

I remember him scaring the **** out of me in Omen 3.

Loved him in that Merlin mini series with Isabella Rosselini. I didn't realise they'd made a follow up until reading his Obits.

Scared the absolute bejeeezus out of me in Event Horizon...

And wasn't he great in Peaky Blinders?

And apparently a nice guy to boot. RIP Sam.
