Opinel have brought out a pocket knife that’s aimed at climbers, but equally useful for anyone else who doesn’t like the twist-ring blade lock. This has a mechanism that doesn’t lock the blade, but holds it in place in use, a version of the system classic old-school pocket knives have. It also doesn’t have a sharp point, the point is squared-off, so it can be used as a small screwdriver or a scraper, the edge is serrated, making it better for cutting rope, etc.
I know Opinel get suggested a lot as a simple pocket knife, but the lock-ring is a no-no for many, so this looks like the perfect option.
