Croissants capped at £1 gets my vote. I want him to go further and cap espresso prices.

In a statement on Tuesday afternoon, the comedian Jon Harvey, also known as Count Binface, offered his candidacy as a unifying force. “Labour, Tories, Lib Dems and Greens: I demand you stand down in Clacton,” Count Binface wrote. “I will be a unity candidate and pledge to build at least one affordable house. Nigel Farage says he wants The People versus the Establishment. So be it. Leave him to me.”

Go on Binny!

He's never managed to keep his deposit before - reckon that's nailed on this time.

And if he wins can we get Joel Dommett leading the chant of "take it off" as he removes the bin to reveal his true identity.... Jeremy Corbyn!

and pledge to build at least one affordable house.

Easy tiger.  I admire the ambition but let's start with half a house and see how we get on.  Don't over-promise and underdeliver.

But I'm glad we're finally seeing a return to 'common sense' politics.

Bribery is where it is at - can we please have many people heading out on voting day dressed as bin-lid, handing out ice-lollies and promising to further investigate any fraud that Frog-mouth has committed.

I have noticed his bin has had a posh makeover since the early days - has he funded this by taking bungs from wheelie-bin makers in exchange for future local council contracts!? 🤷‍♂️

Are you confusing Count Binface with Lord Buckethead?

If Lord Buckethead throws his hat in the ring is there a risk of the vote getting split?

Nope! This is early Binface - you can see the workmanship is shoddy. More like a 1970s era bin that's been knocked around a lot. Latest one even has fancy stripes!

Lord Buckethead and Count Binface are the same person.

There was a copywriter issue with the Lord Buckethead character and so he was replaced by Count Binface.

Imagine if he won.

Obviously can't see it happening but the flounce would be spectacular.

No but hopefully it's going to be a really unpleasant few weeks for Farage, worrying about the possibility of being beaten by a novelty candidate in his own back yard.

As someone else pointed out, it could be Boaty McBoatface all over again!

Count Binface beating Farage would be the single greatest moment in English history and should be commemorated forever more.

Honestly, it pretty hilarious.  The main parties stepping aside and letting Farage debate I guy in a bin costume, genuinely makes me proud of our democracy  🤣

Clacton would at least have a resident MP who would hold surgeries and represent constituents

Count Binface not count the money.

If Reform voters really want to stick two fingers up to the establishment then they'll vote for Count Binface.

worrying about the possibility of being beaten by a novelty candidate in his own back yard.

Sadly his own backyard is Clacton....Well, it's his own back yard in the way Charles has a local pub somewhere on the Sandringham estate that he's had a photo op in once but otherwise has never been.

But Clacton....

One half of Clacton are the inbreds locally born who once went to Harwich but found it too fancy so came straight back and although they have heard of Colchester didn't think it worth applying for a passport just to see what it was like as Harwich was a bit much. The other half are those who retired there from London to get away from all the 'coloureds'.

I guess if Count Binface could put together a picture book to try an explain what 'irony' and 'protest vote' meant and laid a trail of (white or maybe union jack coloured) doughnuts to the voting stations he might get a enough bothered enough to vote to keep his deposit.

Best we can realistically hope for is a damp squib and a 15% turnout of roundabout painters and everyone else not bothering.

Anyone here in Clacton need however many members are on this forum as 'lodgers' for a month or so around the election, or however long it takes the voter registration thing to be processed? Any other ideas for getting us all a Clacton address?

I am a member of a political party and we've had people asking on party FB groups what the score is with canvassing for Binface if we're not running a candidate, so we may yet see a powerful by-election machine swing behind him.

Wouldn't it be great if ALL the voters boycotted it and nobody cast a singe vote, to let it be known what they think about Farages self-serving nonsense

Could be quite lucrative. I bet Deform will offer free lifts to the polling station and drop £20 notes on the floor completely accidentally in an effort to boost the count (the o is silent, here).

They'll have to misplace them on a handy waist height shelf - no chance their voters are physically able to pick something up off the floor!

Rats, I've just heard Count Binface speak, I had expected him to have a sort of booming Darth Vader-esque voice, not a squeaky Dalek-esque rasp ☹️

Not sure I can vote for him now 🙄

It all adds to the humour of this. Can't wait for our Nige, 'man of the people' and Dulwich School (65K a year) alumni has to debate with a bin that sounds like Joe Pasquale.
