If all goes well I should be representing my uni in both cycling and boxing. Hoping to get up to 3rd cat (never done road racing before) and do a 24 hour mtb race.

Also planning on doing some qualifications that will hopefully one day get me a job as a mountain bike guide in the summer.

Learn to swim properly rather than "for fitness" (check the other thread for more info).
Ride my bike more.
Fix the motorbike.
Get a sixpack or at least a flat stomach.

I am about 3 stones overweight. Apart from pottering about on the bike I've done very little in the way of fitness training for the past 10 years. So, the aim this year is to lose 3 stones and resume training, so that I'm fit enough to do the Kielder 100 and the 3 Peaks Cyclocross race in September.

Run more. I really enjoy when I can motivate myself to get out. Put on some weight. Stop reading horoscopes LOL. Stop buying all those shit mags like OK and Heat. Work harder at college. Stop overthinking/ reading too much into stuff. Drink less. Stop smoking. Eat healthier. Wear less eye make up (maybe)

2011 will be the second year of my RLE so just hang on in there, (continue to) get fitter, ride more, buy more clothes/shoes/bags and just be ME... ๐Ÿ˜€

Do lots of the stuff I was going to do this year before family issues intervened.

A couple more Sportives.
An Audax or two.
Torridon and the far North West on the MTB.
Support a certain charity challenge (keeping schtum atm).
Compleat my Munros (this could be very soon).
At least two decent road tours - including venturing to Englandshire and a possible trip to Scandinavia.

Oh - and double the size of the internet business at TBC.

Loose the weight I've put on since breaking my collar bone.

Not break any more bones in 2011. 2 serious injuries in 2 years is enough now thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

@emsz - hadn't realised I wrote that!! RLE == Real Life Experience - see some of my earlier posts on here... Drop me a line on that Facebook or email and I'll happily explain more.

@DT78 - yes - know the feeling!! 2008 = damaged ankle&knee ligaments, 2009 = prolapsed disc!!!

For me this is a really big one- stop drinking alcohol completely. It's not the frequency, it's the intensity that bothers me. When I end up on a session, I get so shitfaced that I'll have little or no recollection of what happened and I will suffer hangovers for about 2 days afterwards and feel totally depressed about it. Unfortunately, there are lots of occasions in my professional and social life where alcohol is a factor and it's difficult to get away from this. I don't want to turn into a social hermit either because I do enjoy "the craic" but I pay for it so much afterwards that it's losing it's appeal. I've given this a lot of thought lately and I think the hardest part will be the socialising without giving in to peer pressure and going for a meal without having wine etc, but I've done some research on it lately and reckon it's doable. I have no problems going for long periods without drinking, it's just that when I knock the arse out of it and binge drink it really affects how I feel. I want to get fit this year so I'm going to give it a go- I've never tried it before but now seems like the time.

I'm hoping to be a bit fitter and faster in 2011 now that I work a bit closer to home. If funds permit, we are planning to move house (garage for the bikes!), which will allow me to commute to work again (too close to work just now).

Planning to get out to some new spots for riding too (rather than just riding 7stanes and Pentlands all of the time):-
- Glen Tilt round in Spring when the weather allows
- Cycle up Mullach Clach a Bhlar and surrounding plateau (walked it last year)
- Great Glen Way in a day in May
- 3-4 day tour with panniers somewhere (looking at Mull and surrounding currently)
- Joining my riding chums for their annual trip to Morzine this year (funds permitting).

Good luck with the munros Druidh - quite an achievement.

As i already know work will be utter poo in the next year (new owners who think we dont know what we are doing), i intend to to give as much time as i can to my wife and kids, ride more with my son, and just have some fun as a family.
Train when i can and race hard, enjoy the laughs i have along the way and help and be there for my close friends.
And cant wait to go back to Le Mans, not been foe years and had to miss the trip i sorted this year, so 2011 will be great.

Happy New Year everyone, hope it brings all you want out of it.

Okay, here goes.

Stepson #2 was diagnosed with type one diabetes in March 2010 and since then life at home has been a living hell of two hourly testing, high blood sugar tantrums and low blood sugar hypos.

I'm hoping to do a London to Brighton offroad to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, but there is the small matter of my fitness to resolve first.

Well, as for the last however many years, I could do with losing weight and being fitter. Oh and eating and sleeping better.

Challenges for 11 are:
Lead F6b/E1.
Get more climbing trips (esp in to the mountains)
Get to Colorado and ride more than the 50 miles I managed the last time (oh, and get outta the car park with all fingers correctly seated EVERY time...).
Make proper use of the funcy bike (and the other ones too).

Ride the TransAm in June. Stay over in Oregon and do some riding up into Wshington and down into California. Should have done this in my twenties, but the time is right now.

Mine are the 2011 1200km Paris-Brest-Paris. It's every four years and I did it in 1999 but have failed to make the start line in 2003 & 2007 due to injury.

My other is a bivi/mountain hut Tour of Mount Blanc. I was snowed down off the mountains in 2009 when I last attempted it as I went out to the Alps just a little too early in June. Maybe try September this time. Also, I'll make sure I go ultralight this time, with no cooking equipment & excess food and instead eat at cafes, shops & mountain huts and sleep down in the warmer valleys if necessary 'cos you soon notice the slightest bit of extra weight in your pack when you're gurning up mountain passes several times a day.

Rachel. Sorry tea got in the way. I was a bit stalkerish looking through some of your posts on here before. I like the phrase! I thought that's what you meant. It was seeing how you got on on here that made me start to post rather than just reading.

I'd just like to find a more enjoyable job than the current one and ride more with like minded people instead of solo most of the time. And it'd be really good if my riding continues to progress after the massive improvements this year ๐Ÿ™‚

Biking wise, nail some decent sized jumps. Ideally big enough that they could have appeared in a bike film 10 years ago...

Start my new job.
Buy a roof rack for my car so I can take advantage of the great cycling up here.
Following on from that look into some of the Pentlands/Lothians, etc. group rides.
