MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Lost a good and long-term friend to cancer yesterday. 45 years old and we were hoping he was on the road to some semblance of normality, but suddenly he then took a turn for the worse. He wasn't a member here - but he did lurk and had done almost since the beginning...
I know there are two things he would love to be doing today: -
1. Riding his bike and owning the climbs and whooping on the descents
2. Giving his wife and young children a hug
So, when you next ride - give a thought to my mate Mark and if you are riding with a good buddy give them a dirty big grin at the bottom of the last descent and a big clap on the back. When you next see the people you love the most, show them you love them.
Ride free my friend. May all your rides be warm and sun-dappled with the breeze just stirring the trees.
That all sounds a bit shit - my condolences 😥
We should think on what we all take for granted!
I feel so much for his wife and children. Such a lovely family who have lost a loving dad and husband. It's just heartbreaking for them.
Sorry to hear that man, consider it done.
What a great response to one of life's shittiest tricks.
I'll join you wishing Mark some heavenly riding, and welcome your advice to embrace all the good stuff.
Happy trails Mark, jamj, and everyone else, for that matter.
Sad to hear, thoughts are with the family and friends. I'm out on my road bike after work. I'll make sure I pick my favourite roads and stop for an ice cream / beer. It's important to remember to enjoy the special times and never take a ride for granted.
life is shyte sometimes mate, keep on keeping on.
will do
Sorry for your loss. Got a ride planned for this evening, I'll try my best up the big climb for him.
Damn cancer. I'll do as you request. And this small gesture.
sorry to hear Jam, my condolences
Sorry to hear this.
Love the sentiment of your post though & will be sure to do both.....
RIP Mark.
Des. That gesture will be so appreciated by his family. Thank you from me too.
So many thanks to DezB - a truly amazing thing to do. I will make sure that Marks family know what has been done in part for him. Thank you again.
I knew this place could be special.
My condolences. Lost half my immediate family to cancer this year. It's just awful. Can you take his kids out for a ride. I've found my nephews and nieces talk freely about their losses when we are riding.
I will certainly spend some time with them TiRed. Unlike their dad - they are not big cyclists, but I am sure we can find something to do with them that that will enjoy.
So sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose so much of my family in a short period...
Take care.
