I need to repaint a wooden front door glossy red as the current paint is very tired but has no major wood deterioration. I will also need to repaint white window frames.

I understand that I need to sand it down well then apply an undercoat.

But do I use white or dark grey undercoat for the red and white gloss paints?

And is Dulux Weathershield undercoat and gloss any good? OH wants Farrow and Ball but they don't do a colour as vulgar as bright red.

Red is notoriosly dificult to cover so you need a red/deep pink undercoat and even then you may need to apply 2 coats of gloss. Farrow and ball is shite btw HTH

Thanks both. What's a better colour for coverage then? Can't have green as next door has that. Blue?
