Having worked out how to line the car with tarp effectly, it seems a good time to clean the mud off the interior from the past 12 months.
plastic should be easy enough, but any tips for getting dried mud out of the fabrics?

stiff brush perhaps?

Vanish power foam, you may have to do the entire car though, as it really shows up where you've just cleaned...

Stiff brush? No ****ing way. What do you class as a stiff brush? Visit Halfords and chose one of the many dirt lifting/foaming sprays. The pink carpet (Vanish stain remover) foam-spray should work (test first). After all, carpet is very similar. Nutters, stiff brush- catch a thread or wear one down? Dont forget that grit/fine sticks etc may still be present and agitate the threads of fabric. Foam, lift, wipe and repeat.
