My Mrs has spread a large amount of oil onto her montane prism primaloft jacket and I'm wondering how best to get it out? Any ideas?
Cheers

Bad news. She will never really get it out. I would rub Swarfega or neat paraffin into the oily stain then immediately wash the jacket as hot as possible.

Start with baby wipes.

They can get pretty much anything off anything.

A bar of vanish. Wet the material, rub with the bar, put into washing machine. Worked on my Prism.

I have been on a tireless quest spanning several years to seek a way of removing oil stains from my hi-viz Montane Velocity jacket, including asking on here and phoning Montane directly, to no avail.

All attempts to shift the oil stains have completely failed with one exception - Nikwax Techwash applied directly on the stain and then vigorously agitated with a nail brush does make the oil stains fade a bit. The guy at Montane suggested trying washing up liquid and then washing the jacket several times to remove all traces of it, but I haven't tried that yet. I prefer my jacket to be breathable than appearing clean ๐Ÿ™‚

Not sure if this will work on your fabric* but I have used a very hot iron before now.
Place brown paper over the oil mark, iron over it, this will hopefully soak up the worst of the oil. Let it cool.
Leave a thick layer of bicarbonate of soda on the mark over night and gently brush off.

* I'm not sure if the fabric/material of the jacket will be fine using a hot iron. It's something I do with everyday fabrics such as cotton, linen, etc.

I tried alcohol hand gel. Worked small bits in and rubbed/scraped if off with my nail. Took a while but came out in the end.

cilet bang? Not sure if it would damage the fabric but it's powerful stuff.

I'd suspect that applying heat to the stain with an iron would damage the jacket. It's got character now, don't remove it.
