Its May 4th!   Who's watching?

In the Winston household its the classic double bill of Rogue One followed straight away by A New Hope.

Well 50% of the household anyway - my good wife and eldest daughter prefer Grays Anatomy but me and the youngest (and coolest) are flying the flag for the rebellion!

Younger son has been ably serving the Rebel Alliance on the X-Box. Does that count?

I was actually thinking of doing the S/W saga from the beginning. Just done GOT and pirates of the Caribbean binges.

I’m actually doing this at the moment, timeline order and skipping out the tv series because who’s got that kind of time?

Just finished Rogue One which is an infinitely better film than any of the prequels. Got 5 good ones coming up now at least.

I'm halfway through S3 of The Mandalorian (and would like to thank whoever it was who recommended watching Boba Fett between S2 and S3, this is the way).

I was actually thinking of doing the S/W saga from the beginning.

Machete order.

I'm in no way knocking it, and each to their own, but it's amazing how a film that was, let's be honest, nothing more than an average to decent piece of popcorn fodder, has become an absolute cultural behemoth.

I don’t want to appear it be a fan-boy, but I really don’t think the original 2 movies were at all average. But I do agree that the time was probably right for their release.

TBH I think you had to be there at the start, it was stunning as a kid as that star destroyer shock the cinema to pieces in the opening scenes.

Star Wars (and Alien)are iconic for a reason, sort of genre defining.

@dudeofdoom completely agree. They were the right films at the right time.
Other films may have done it before, but I don’t remember them. The music intro at the start set the scene for the movie. Loved it.

In retrospect they’re all a bit meh. At the time as a child, loved them….later releases, a bit samey
Same old…meh.

I still like the original trilogy, but agree about the sequels and prequels (will try to forget Solo ever existed). All suffered from shoehorning in references to the original just for the sake of it. Plus Anakin building C3PO, FFS.
Rogue One was fantastic though. Would rate that as second best after Empire. Also really enjoyed Andor but struggling with the Mandalorian.
Only watched the first of the Japanese anime shorts but that was pretty good because it was so different.

Waiting for my son to be old enough to dig out my old toys from the loft.
Only just resisted spending £550 on the Lego Millenium Falcon in the Disney sale.

I think the issue is that no one wanted the prequels and you had to wait a long time till they showed up (we wanted more Luke, leia and Han ) and the sequels again were left too late and it does seem like a rehash of Star Wars.

I find the Mandolorian eye candy but not much substance that I’m interested in.

Andor is very good thou ,other than that I think they’ve murdered the Star Wars universe by oversaturation.

I did like rogue one as well.

And almost impossible to pick up (especially when drunk) without it exploding, ask me how I know.

Currently on bag 11 of 40 odd bags of the Razor Crest.

Proud Dad Moment.

The Star Wars Visions Season 2 was released on the 4th, when else. My son worked on the Aardman episode, I Am Your Mother. He’s a puppet maker and spent 3 months turning ideas in to puppets. Named in the credits too.

Very, very proud.

The £150 version is a good compromise.....
