This year Santa will be bringing the family an Android tablet 🙂

I would like to preload some applications so the kids (5 and 3) can use it for learning as well as playing games (found the cBeebies game thing).
What free apps do others use?

Stoner Jr (7) had one last year and enjoyed playing where's my water and Puzzle retreat (really good logic game)

His old tablet has had a refresh and is going to his 3.5yr old brother with. He likes the lego game, and finger painting. His cousin has some kids song games on hers which I shall track down as well.

Jr Sr gets a new tablet this xmas, have preloaded it with free chess (great easy to use version for learning on ) a load of wordsearch games, link to CBBC games and Ive bought him minecraft PE too as I think he'll get on with it very well. I might look at getting survival craft as well.

Make sure you get an app like "Kids Place-Parental Control" it allows you to pick the apps the kids can access, including internet browsers etc, and is password protected to give you control.

Do a search on "Google education" - Google are trying to get into the education market big time. Very USA centric at the moment, but I'm sure the will be some apps that are useful.

pbc - Ive just finished setting up the old tablet for Jr 3.5yr old for xmas.

Have added a couple of Lego Duplo games, zebra colouring in. I might ad some of the free ones from the Dr Panda range, but need to check them out on my tablet first to see if they work OK when offline and dont need any in-game purchases etc. Jr Jr's tablet has wifi disabled except for when Im updating games.

Search for free kids games see what you think they would like. If they don't get used they're easily deleted. There's also some apps which are quite cheap not as expensive as games for a console. My wee lad enjoying pirate phonics which was about a pound.
