Can anyone recommend me a skateboarding DVD for my nephew for his 11th birthday. Something which is "awesome" & possibly hints & tips on "rad" tricks would be good.
I have tried to convince him that MTB is the way forward but he's having none of it. I am tempted just to give him a copy of Roam but suspect that might not win many "uncle browmie points".
Thanks for any help as I have no idead where to start other than Tony Hawk but suspect that he is no longer the "main man"
Girl skateboarding's - "yeah right".
It's a few years old but great tunes and stands out from the crowd (some invisible ramp tricks!).
Also - genius scene with pre-suicide attempt Owen Wilson, quality.
Animal Chin!
Lakai\Girls latest (fully flared with the bonus dvd and Yeah Right) are both amazing. Spike Jonze is da man and makes Skate Vids which are actually watchable by non skaters (my wife doesn't mind watching either of these)
Torrent some old ones as well and pop them on DVD
Ban This, Public Domain (Bones Brigade)
Shackle Me Not, Hocus Pokus, Not the New (H-Street)
Video Days, Questionable (Plan B)
Streets\Wheels of Fire (Santa Cruz)
Real to Real (REAL)
All amazing old school stuff - make him realize that it's not all popsicle crap 🙂
Logic films are good. Well filmed and with a really good soundtrack. Usually get interviews with Pros in there too.
Or send him on the path to the decent side of skateboarding, get him the Lush DVD, Faltowns Art Of Going Sideways or Landyachtz Concrete Evolutions 😉
Forgot to add Dogtown and Z Boys
Anything with Jason Jessee or Gonz in.
Or that film about Gator 😉
There was video\dvd magazine around a while back 'ON Video' I think it was called which had some great sections. The Danny Way and Natas Kaupas documentary sections are both very interesting
Street Skating with Rob and Natas is an instructional video you could get him. He might not speak to you after watching it though 🙂
Oh and get him Thrashin' and Gleaming the Cube as well. And that Police Academy (was it #2?) with the skating section at the start.
Guaranteed to get him off the skateboard 🙂

Oh man that takes me back. Might have to get hold of some of these again.
Dogtown and the Z boys is ace from a history perspective.
A bit late to this, but "Sorry" by Fl¡p (or "Really Sorry") might be worth a shout 8)
rodney mullen V daewon song 1,2 & 3.
check this out. especially at 3 mins 4 seconds. i just find that simple looking flip one of the best tricks out there.the slow mo should help folk see what he actually does.
as he's 11 he's not going to appreciate the old school videos, they might look a bit lame to him
these are very good DVD's

And if he fancies some old school then arguably the finest is Plan B - Questionable
..have you seen him?
useless wooden toys
...or Menikmati (és)
