Evening all,

I need somewhere for a group of 16 to eat on Easter Sunday in Newcastle city centre. Finding a recommendation on the internet is a minefield! Ideally it would be somewhere that isn't a pub and isn't a chain doing good food with main course £10-£15. Modern Bistro style food in a friendly spot.

If we were in Cardiff these would spring to mind:

Any ideas for something similar?

Thanks.

Try David Kennedy's Food Social - very good food and not over priced.

http://www.foodsocial.co.uk/

Sunday lunch menu -

- Sunday lunch £9.95 for one course, £13.95 for 2 etc

Unless it's Easter Sunday evening as they are closed on Sunday evenings.

www.barnasia.org
http://www.asyoulikeitjesmond.com/ (not really in the centre)
http://www.bigmussel.co.uk/ (looks dodgy from outside but is ok)

There are loads of Italians on Dean Street and Grey Street
There are a few good chain pubs on the quayside which are pleasant.
Stowell street contains a large number of Chinese restaurants
Sacchins and Spice cube are always mentioned when curries are discussed.

I always said that if im in newcastle, with time for dinner, i'd go to the Rupali, bigg market.
Many years of reading viz has implanted that notion firmly.

jonba, isn't barn asia closed now, taken over by a different owner?

try caffe vivo on the live theatre, a lovely bistro on the quayside owned by Terry Laybourne, ex Michelin star chef, who concentrates on less fancy food now.

neninja - that looks ideal, on the downside it is Easter Sunday evening we want to eat there 🙁

I will now check out these other suggestions. Any further recommendations welcome though.

Went to a great family run Italian in town which I'm sure someone on here can name for me (memory failed) it wasn't overly bistro-esque. But well cooked tasty and well priced, plus space to cater for largish groups.
