cutepdf is the sweetest to use, but limited functionality.

Why would you need it on a Mac? You can already make PDFs as standard, or does it do something else too?

CutePDF is great for basic creation of PDF files (better than acrobat for simple prints), NitroPDF has a few more functions.

I'm no MAC man, man, and can't find how to create PDF's in my M'sus MAC hellhole.. so thought the more normal Adobe solution was the only option.. then I read this and blingo..
CutePDF for MAC d'loaded..

IIRC there is a PDF plug for MS Office that allows you to save a document as a PDF file if that's all you want to do

On a Mac - if you just go to print [cmd and 'p'] - there are various PDF creation options. No need for another application.

I used Irfanview (free) in the past to convert MSWord docs to PDF.

No idea if there's anything better, or what it's limitations are.

You mean ... more or less in the same place that pdf creation plugins are accessed on a PC? No wonder bikebuoy
