I've got a nokia comeswithmusic sub which expires soon- unlimited free downloads from the Nokia shop. So, I want to abuse it but I've already downloaded literally everyhing I can think of. So, random recommendations please!

I'm already pretty well equipped with rock and metal, but interested in more folk, drum and bass, classical and that difficult and small genre "Anything that sounds a bit like Mogwai". But really, tell me what you think is great.

No Cheeky Girls though.

Godspeedyoublackemperor
A Silver Mount Zion
Stars of the lid
Labradford
Explosions in the sky

Would probably appeal for the Mogwai part of you.

Arvo Part
Steve Reich
Terry Reilly
Henryk Górecki

For some Modern "classical/minimalism" type stuff.

Philip Jeck
William Basinski (the disintegration tapes)
Oval (94 Diskont)

For "what the **** is that it is beautiful?" moments.

Edit, oh and Gavin Bryars' "The sinking of the Titanic/Jesus' blood never failed me yet".

M83 are lovely. Close your eyes and drift away on a sea of sound.
Start with "Before the Dawn Heals Us"

Sigur Ros in a similar vein
King Cannibal for a total contrast (and then some!)

for something new, fresh and a bit different:
Various Production (if you haven't got The World is Gone, get it!)
Hudson Mohawke
Flying Lotus
Mike Slott

If you're after drum and bass I'd recommend the likes of these:

Marcus Intalex
Commix
Calibre
Klute
LTJ Bukem

Some of the stuff from the mid 90's is pretty damn good too, such as:

Source Direct
Photek
Peshay
Ed Rush
Omni Trio

As you said folk, I've got to mention Rodrigo y Gabriela. Its acoustic guitar music, but do all sorts of stuff including metal covers.

Slagsmalsklubben - Properly happy stuff that's quite similiar to Royskopp but a bit more 8-bit.

An album called "Creature Feature" by Pendulum (not the pendulum that exist now, different group that were about before them but also from Australia).

Bit eclectic but you could try
Sunn O)))-their CD Monoliths and Dimensions is the album of 2009 IMHO

Nadja-Radience of Shadows is as good as any for an introduction to the band

Bass Communion-Ambient side project of Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree

Wolves in The Throne Room-Ambient Black Metal if you can get your head round that

Or slightly more mainstream
Opeth

Porcupine Tree

Alabama 3

My ISP is probably about to get upset at me. Thanks guys! Some names I know, some names I don't.

The "recommend me" option has now completely died from all the random picks 🙂 I confused it before by downloading Slayer and Bach at the same time, for weeks it refused to recommend me anything but Apocalyptica and the metallica S&M album. But now it's just dead...

Second Bad Vilbel has got to be one of the benchmarks of electronic music.

They've written so many seminal tracks, it's scary. Krib is my favourite though. Saw them live a few times in that era. Stunning 😀 Also remember being at The Fridge in Brixton a few weeks before Tri Repetae came out. Bloke in the back room played the whole album, and within a few seconds it was obvious what it was. For me that's what distinguishes the very best electronic artists.
