looking for some suggestions. Want to be close (i.e. within riding distance) to some good riding, but also need stuff to do for the kids (7 and 5 years old) close or on the site.

Sites with electric hook up would be preferred, but not essential.

Any suggestions gratefully received......

Laneside at Hope, or Coopers or FieldHead (National Trust) at Edale probably fit the bill - not sure about the electric hook ups though. North Lees outside Hathersage is a lovely spot but quite remote

Hardhurst farm, near Hope used to be our go to campsite.

I've stated at Hardhurst, it's got a cafe and there's a pub v close. Plus there's a railway line for the kids to play on 🙂

You can use the bus to get to Hope and Castleton or walk along a footpath in the fields across the main road.

We didn't do it but I assume you can get the train round to Edale.

No hook up at Field Head, limited at Cooper's too but there's lots of space and old Mr Cooper is an entertainment all on his own!
Laneside gets very busy.
There's Eden Tree but you are close to Hope Cement Works so you coudl get a bit of background noise.
North Lees is fab, not sure about hook up.

Depends which bit of the Peak - more in the White than Dark Peak. There's quite a few over Bakewell way that are good - plenty about.

Slightly out of the peaks but birchwood farm at whatstandwell is a great cheap family campsite. 10 minutes youre in Matlock 20 mins you're in bakewell. And ace woods next to the campsite for kids to explore and great riding from the tent! We live only 15 mins away but still camp there several times a year and the mrs goes for a few nights in the summer hols just with the kids.
