After being informed that pizza was more 'special' than pasta (and duly rewarded for my efforts 😉 ) because I made the base, I've decided that I need a pasta machine!
Does a £20 one from John Lewis work, or is it nececary to spend £120 on one?
My gf had a £20 or so one (it was branded 'Jamie Oliver') and the handle sheared off the 3rd time she used it. So maybe spending a bit more is a good idea.
I've had one of these for ages, Imperia, get a reasonalble amount of use, just keep it clean and they'll last well.
i asked the very same thing a few weeks back.
cheers, now if only there was a machine for altering the past so I could go back and search for past machine and avoid having to post a thread about pasta machines..................
exactly!
Imperia here too. Seems to work well, although my efforts at makign the dough don't help the final product much.
Imperia is the proper one. Mine is good anyway.
Dough - use roughly one egg per two people and just put in very strong flour until the only way you can get it to bind together is by squeezing with your hands. It will look very unpromising, but then just pass bits through the machine on fattest setting a few times and hey presto, will start to resemble pasta. Very satisfying.
I think the good dried pasta (De Cecco) is better than home made - even if you use 00 semolina flour.
Italians always use dried.
we made pumpkin gnocchi tonight. f3cking yummy it was.
gnocchi vs sprouts both evil evil foods.
gnocchi is brilliant. sprouts are shit.
Another vote for Imperia here 🙂
