We have something that requires 2 AA batteries . Duracell rechargeables won't power it whereas throw away Duracell will. Why would that be?
The voltage of rechargeable ones is slightly lower (1.2V Vs 1.5V) I think. Have had the same problem myself. If you have a multimeter you can prove it for yourself
Rechargeables will be 1.2v. Alkaline are 1.5v.

2 work with rechargeables the rest don't.

I bought an exposure flare rear light that uses RCR123A Batteries.
Normal= fine
Rechargables= not fine
I now see exposure do specific batteries in that size. I wonder if they would work better?

You can get 1.5v rechargables but they're quite expensive- they're a little lipo cell and board in an AA size case. Mostly they have a USB slot on the side for easy charging. They last longer per charge too so they're pretty useful, though I've had some problems with them not lasting long before failing completely, only a couple of years sometimes. Maybs something I'm doing wrong
As above, we have some things that dint play well with the slightly lower voltage of rechargeable batteries.
What really messed with my head was when I had to change the batteries in our Nest smoke detector. It basically said, nope, I want proper energizer high power batteries when I tried putting a different brand of disposable in there.
