Took junior about 3 months from application for an adult passport to replace a valid child passport to receiving it.

PO asked for the same information twice (during application, and then during the process).

Also asked for parental counter signatures for the application as it was started before junior turned 18 but the request for this came somewhat after.

OK I suppose, but a few moments of ‘will it turn up in time to fly’ later this month. It did mean plans for a possible trip to Berlin were abandoned.

Applied online Wednesday 24 Aug, old one sent Friday 26 Aug, new passport came today, Friday 2 Sep.
Guess things have got quicker.

I applied last Wednesday afternoon on line (12 October)my returned passport which I posted on Friday arrived with them on Monday, new passport was in my hand at midday today, so seven days. Realistically it couldn’t have been any quicker.
Edit: it does seem less robust than the old burgundy one though. A bit cheap and cheerful tbh

Thread resurrection time...

Just noticed my lads passport expired in March....we fly in 5weeks.

Online it's saying should have within 3w....any recent experience before I pay double for fastrack?

Thanks

A bit earlier in the year, but I got a new passport in under 3 weeks.
I think the slowest bit was me remembering to send my old one to them.

Dunno whether a summer rush affects it.

I applied online on 23rd June. Sent back old passport same week. New passport was printed on Wednesday and has been posted out. Tracking says due on Monday 13th, so about 3 weeks for me and I am in Ireland.

It was last year but mine was done in 2.5 weeks without paying any extra for Fasttrack. If you need it urgently though, I'd probably be paying for the speedy service as a bit more of a guarantee...

sent mine away on Monday, they are quoting 3 weeks on my application. I don't need it until sept.

For 5 wks time I'd be paying the fast track fee
