Hi

Bought a laptop last year, bought copies of MS Office Home & Student (3 licences) and MS Outlook (1 licence), installed them both on new laptop. Installed the other two MS Office licences on two other computers I have.

Laptop just died (again, for good this time). I have got the data off and have to buy a new laptop. Can I just install MS Office and MS Outlook on the new laptop by installing the trial version and entering my Product Keys? Or do I need to buy another flipping copy?

In other words, does 1 licence mean "one computer at a time" or "one computer ever"?

Licence is transferable.

that sounds like good news. But how does "it" know I have transferred it and it's not two chancers both trying to use the same licence? When I connect to the internet with the new one does it somehow invalidate the old one?

Why install the trial version with your product keys when you have bought the actual products?

In either case just install it. When you register the software if there's a problem the worst that will happen might involve a call to MS, but unlkely in my opinion.
