In 2007 it's on the 'Font' section of the 'Home' tab.

It's a drop down which selects the border type you want to add, once that's selected you just highlight the cells and click the button.

Not that I know of but F4 repeats your last command, so that might help (and might not help either of course)

Border to cells i.e. you can add top or bottom - left or right borders but I want to add a border to encompass cells and other than using a drop down option every time I was wonder if there was a key-stroke short cut?

ctrl + 1 will open the format box, if you've last used borders, that'll open the boarders bit. Not sure if that's quicker really but I'm used to it so works for me.

Erm. I find it annoying (work on excel day in day out) but not that much of a hassle since there's a menu bar button to do it. I work on Excel '07 which is a bit easier than '03 for presentation and formatting.

You could think about pre-setting a small area with your chosen format, then using copy- paste special- paste formats as keyboard shortcuts.

Why not just record a macro and give ti a shortcuit ctrl+. Macros can include formatting actions.
