Thanks for the top off Blob, can't believe I missed that. I think Live at Pompeii has the great funked up version of echoes.

Ohh great! Wont watch the live at pomp, as my dad made me watch that when i was 12, and insisted that any self respecting son of a real hippy need to know about the floyd(plus incredible string band, hendrix and lots of west coast acid rock). i was a queen fan at the time.....
wish you were here is my first musical memory; Wales, mid 70s and my dad and his hairy mates skinning up homegrown and going to the woods to drop acid, while earthmothers with longhair and free swinging boobies cooked lentils and bread. then we moved to cambridge and lived round the corner from sid barret...it wasnt until my own education in the pleasures of narcotics started did i understand what he was on about.

Why not watch it on the iplayer & connect/stream the sound, or wear some half decent headphones?

Dear me, I was at Wembley for the DSOTM tour. 😯

Those were the days ...

Although I don't actually like Pink Floyd.

Edit: it was released in 1973.

Top music. Dark side of the moon is still on of my most played albums.

And I love picking up a guitar and playing along to their stuff.

Top band 🙂

Fantastic band, one of the most influential bands ever.

Saucerful of Secrets is my fave album, but Echoes is one of the best bits of rock music ever produced.

I think Live at Pompeii has the great funked up version of echoes.

That is truly brilliant. Saw LAP in school when I was about 14; virtually all other 'pop' music at the time was blown into insignificance following that experience.

If I'm ever cremated, it has to be Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, as my box rolls into the furnace....

Another Brick in the Wall was a seminal track when I was in Primary school. Mate at college's sister sang on that.

Cant help but think Pink Floyd are 70% shite and 30% genius. Still recording "Live In Pompei" as there 30% shite is better then 70 % of other bands. Confused . 😉

I must admit I'm not a fayn of their post-Waters stuff, but they had 15+ years of producing top notch music.

Here we go! Live at Pompeii! 😀

Fantastico.

(Turns volume up. Doesn't care if it annoys neighbours- it's Friday night anyway they play crappy cheesy eurotechno crap)

In labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant time
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine

love that

I don't think Roger came out well, quite obvious that he had regrets about him 'being floyd'

your never to old to learn...

managed 5 minutes.....then remembered why punk came along.

Which is approximately how long punk lasted. 90% of punk was unoriginal, derivative garageband r'n'b. I know, I bought a lot of the singles, and saw a fair number of the bands, and apart from a very select few, like the Pistols, Clash, Jam, etc, most band died a very deserved early death. I did see Floyd, at Bristol Hippodrome, Winter Tour 74, the Wish You Were Here tour, when they did DSOTM, along with Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Raving And Drooling, and You've Got To Be Crazy, which later became Pigs and Sheep, IIRC, on Animals.
Still got my comic book programme, around $250 on eBay these days.
