Mmmm. Tempting, but it always gives me a raging headache.

Saw a bottle of 'special' Jack Daniels the other day in Tesco. In a fancy bottle and everything - £35 though!

Thanks for clearing up the whole PSA thing. I've always wondered what it stood for too!!

Bourbon in Lidl is £10 a 70cl bottle - just as nice as Jim Bean/Jack D (if not nicer considering the bottle didnt last 24hrs.... oops)

People why appear to enjoy Jack Daniels, appear to enjoy telling people they enjoy drinking Jack Daniels almost as much.

They are usually impressionable late teenagers who have read too many superficial interviews with rock guitarists, or retired bank managers from Orpington with a Harley Davidson in the garage when they oculd have bought a real motorbike instead.

People who drink JD seem to associate their choice of third rate poison with all sorts of lifestyle and branding issues. It's all so ghastly and "American". Proof of the power of marketing.

Jujuuk68, I like real ale, single malts, red wine, G&T's, and the odd lager at a BBQ. what does that make me?

Clues, I'm no teenager, can't ride a motor bike, never made it to manager of the bank, but I don't mind a bit of rock guitar.

Its like getting your palm read.....never had that done either

You might like to think so, however the reality is people tend to make their own mind up when it comes to various spirits. I rather like JD, but not as much as proper Kentucky Bourbon. JD isn't bourbon, it comes from Tennessee; and I find proper bourbon to be much smoother. And your snide "American": what exactly do you mean? Of course it's American, where the hell else do you think it comes from? Most of the advertising I recall for JD points out that the production is very laid back and unassuming, the irony being the consumption of JD is not allowed where it's made.
Frankly, JD, like the Islay malts, is such an 'aquired' taste I don't think very many people drink it just because of some alleged 'Rock'n'roll', bad boy association.

Well done for trying to feel superior to people on the internet you've never met.
