Professional certificates in AI ethics / governance for business - anyone done one / recommend one?

I know there's a lot of IT / tech-adjacent people on the forum so thought I'd ask a professional development question. Has anyone here done any sort of professional certification in AI ethics or governance?

I'm specifically looking at the IAPP AI Governance Professional (AIGP) and the London School of Economics Ethics of AI certificate, but I don't know if there's anything else I should be looking at?

Why do I want to do this? I studies Communications at uni then got a Masters in Political Communication back in 2009, with the plan of going on to do a PhD in emerging media / digital media policy. My PhD thesis (which I never finished, dropped out after randomly getting a decent job in retail opps / retail management) was on philosophy of technology and citizen journalism, so I have a decent educational foundation and a passion for this stuff.

Been unemployed for the past year and the last job I had was working in publishing (3rd party sponsored content company which did country branding and business supplements for the Graun, Newsweek, Die Welt and some other big names). AI came in around 2023 and made a lot of people redundant - including me - but also enshittified the product.

I would love to get into AI oversight / AI implementation sector off the back of my previous experience with comms / digital tech research plus my commercial experience. Some sort of certification to freshen up my CV feels like a good idea, but I don't know anyone working in this area who could give any advice.

Thanks in advance for any help / advice.

AIGP is good as a starter course,ย  it works for me as I am in a role where AI ethics and governance is a near daily discussion.ย

The official AIGP training isn't worth the money though.ย  Go for the Dr Kyle David training

It is an interesting course without much competition currently.ย  It could def be improved with more really world stuff rather than the regs

Might be worth a browse around the AI Skills Hub?

e.g. SAS - Responsible Innovation and Trustworthy AI - Catalogue
