No, this isn't a Carry On suggestion, or a reference to matters conjugal.

I've never been very good at receiving presents, and tend to feel embarrassed and guilty, which makes my birthday and Christmas awkward. On the other hand, I like to give presents and enjoy others being made happy.

Anyone else have a Catholic guilt about the apparently simple pleasure of receiving a gift?

I have to agree with you. Being on the receiving end is often disappointment. On the giving end, only disappointment if the recipient is a bad actor.

Yeah much prefer to make other people happy.

Having kids helps!

I'm trying to figure out whether this has gone south yet.

But I know what you mean.

Same here, I'd rather a token. I love to see their faces when they get their's. Makes my day.
