I had a pretty bad bout of gastroenteritis earlier this week. Not at all pleasant. In 36 hours I only managed to eat some breadsticks.
i've got a pretty unpleasant taste in my mouth though, and i feel like my kidneys have been punched. What causes that?
Ketosis caused by not eating? Bacteria growing in dry mouth?
I get that kidney discomfort when I've had bad diarrhoea and I'm dehydrated. Get some oral rehydration salts or Google how to make your own.
had any pine nuts? is the taste in the mouth metallic?
I found I had a bad reaction to pine nuts (in pesto) and did a bit of google doctoring on the topic found PNS pine nut sensitivity. brought on often by a slightly different type of pine nut grown in china or the chemicals the chinese nuts are treated with, one or the other...
I get the mouth thing sometimes when I'm fasting, which is what you've been forced into doing. Oddly, a can of diet coke seems to strip whatever it is out of my mouth. I'm guessing full fat coke will do it as well.
not on antibiotics, are you ?
Are you sure they were bread sticks?
pook- i had EXACTLY this just a week back
horrid horrid bug....i just felt really off one lunch at work, out of no where, then by 5pm i was shivering and totally cold, went to bed and sweating profusely through the night
woke up next day feeling like death, stomach was awful toilet wise, everytime i went to eat id manage about 3 mouthfuls and feel totally full
had the same awful taste in my mouth throughout, basically no taste what so ever and even after i felt better a week on i had little to no taste and a shabby tasting mouth
what did help me was drinking shite loads of water, flushing it out of my system for me eventually, and it was a nice feeling to wake up feeling normal over a week later
proper felt like death though and felt totally out of sorts for a week
didnt at any point have cough/cold so was defo a stomach bug, cant say as ive had one that bad before but it wiped me out totally, still probably didnt help riding still but what doesnt kill you.......
When I travel around Africa I carry a supply of Lomotil as "first defence" against diarrhoea and a supply of ciprofloxacin, which works miracles in the case of tummy bugs, clearing them up overnight. Strongly recommended if you need to keep active, as on a business trip.
have you tried brushing your teeth? 😆
Was struck down 10 days ago, didn't have the bad taste in the mouth after though, or if I did I was feeling so sorry for myself I didn't notice. 😥
