My new flat has these small boxes on the walls in every room. There is a dial on them that you can adjust to read "frost", "warm", etc.
I'm guessing they are controls for heating. Each room has electric storage heaters but these have controls on them anyway and I wouldn't have thought that they were controlable enough to work with thermostats.
Any ideas?
Lick it then tell us what happens.
The science museum may be able to help?
From the fuse rating they look like 3 kW heaters - maybe they're a backup for winter of you're away and the storage heaters are switched off eg just come on if the temp gets too low to stop things freezing?
thats an old box they used to install years and years ago
its been largely superceeded now by better regulations and appliances
technical name for them is a 'deathtrap'
only joking I really have no idea but RUN AWAY its a BOMB, its a BOMB!!
I put them there, leave them alone.
Messiah on a velocipede. Does your new place have a secret lab?
1. Cut the red wire.
2. Please note it is probably best to get some insulated pliers before doing 1.
Couger, yes it does, and I'd appreciate it if you all kept your prying noses out of it.

Your Secret Lab is obviously very big - it has an echo!
Do you live near Brentwood?
