I'm sick of having two phones on me all the time. Anyone tried to move their existing mobile number to a work phone. And also have you managed to get it back when you left jobs?

IMHO You will struggle to get the number back when you change jobs unless you have it written into contract that you can port it back out.
I've seen plenty of people "lose" their personal numbers this way.
