the electrics packed up a while ago and ive just got myself a new filter with UV light, so going to try and get all the algae out of the pond again now.

we had one of these but it packed up.

How did it pack up? Water ingress? It's just a switch box, isn't it?

We've got a similar thing, but it has rubber booted toggle switches. How are those little buttons waterproofed?

it packed up suspiciously after we had an extension done, and the builders left loads of stuff piled on it. sparky just said it was knackered, but theres no way of knowing if that contributed. what happens now is it keeps blowing every fuse thats put in with a pop and blackens the insides.

dont know how the buttons are waterproofed tbh, i just assume they are because its sold as being weatherproof 😀

can you suggest any alternatives, or point me in the right direction of where to buy?

thanks

also just thinking, is it worth my while installing weatherproof sockets instead or will there be a problem keeping a plug weatherproof if its on all the time, like my pond pump would be?
was just thinking for plugging radios etc in if we had a barbie?

or should i just stick with the weatherproof switch box?

Fuses blow for a reason. Check all wires connected to it before splashing out on a new one

Something is causing the fuses to blow. Are the fuses inside the box & do they blow instantly?? If so, it sounds like a short.

Not sure I can offer much advice for alternatives. We inherited a pond when we moved house. The previous owner has put a second fusebox in the garage that supplies light & power sockets to the garage as well as power to the pond switch box and an outside waterproof socket.
The box looks similar to yours, but as mentioned has rubber boots over the switches. I assume your knackered box is outside?

I would definitely get it looked at before hooking up the new filter & uv light.

its ok, the sparky has run all the tests on it and said its the box thats broken. the feed comes from a socket in the house and is ok.

just wondered which to buy for future, a box like that or actual sockets.

the filter ive just got has a plug on the end, the pump in the pond is just wires to a box, so one will need adapting. wondered if its generally better to have an enclosed box like that, or sockets that can have stuff plugged in and out of whenever we feel like it.

thanks

I have both. Outdoor socket for lawnmower etc, plugged into a socket with an RCD device. Three way switched box for pond stuff

My pond pump has a normal plug on the end is permanently plugged into a normal outside socket and the wire is buried under the grass.
Been like that about 4yrs and has been ok.
