Very strange, no gross generalisation in this thread. Obviously bored.

Anyway moving on. I don't see how he can walk away from this, the prosecution will want the pre-meditated murder charge but will find it hard to stick.

Based on the judge's comments so far, culpable homicide

Judge has dealt the prosecution quite a blow thus far, dismissing their key witnesses.

Homicide, then appealed, then he'll walk..probably.

I think he'll walk. There is doubt even though hes guilty. Nevermind he admitted doing it. Its the story/it just doesn't wash.

Culpable Homicide

Unlawful or negligent killing - sounds about right in this given there's no doubt he did kill her.

From what the judge says so far its not going to be murder (which is what I thought he'd get).

I have to say this must be quite difficult for all concerned as she spends a huge amount of time reading her statement when what people want to hear is the verdict.

Guilty as sin IMHO. Probably why I'm not a judge.

Well, I was wrong about Michael Jackson so it has to be innocent.

No question, if he gets away with it and I was her father, I'd invite him round for a bit of good old SA truth and reconciliation give him a couple of drinks, then when he goes to the bathroom mistake him for an intruder.

Oh and I'm sure he's going to get away light.

I reckon he'll be found innocent, then fed to the sharkticons.

It's like reality TV isn't it. They should start by saying "TL;DL- GUILTY!" then do all the bollocks.

Will there be dramatic music and an irritating 30 second pause before she gives the verdict...?

Culpable homicide - judge made the point that he was thinking when aiming lower down rather that upper torso hence intended to discharge the firearm. There will be a degree of neglience so 10 - 15years your honour.

She was coming back to that but its now adjourned.

Expect a legal appeal .. Is this another OJ SImpson case but with less money involved ?

He seems like a nice chap, possibly a bit misunderstood.
I think he will bounce back, maybe get a job in coaching or at a shooting range .

They'll play the Coundown Clock music.

Do-do, do-do, diddly-did, did, bong. 10 years.

Whatever, it will take Scotland off the top of the news for 10 minutes. Perhaps they can rush DLT's trial through to next week.

From this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-29143540

Judge Thokozile Masipa said humans were fallible, and may not have heard gunshots or screaming as they thought.

Correspondents say this casts doubt on a key prosecution argument.

I haven't followed the case that closely, but I was suspicious about the police case when they found the blood stained sock tainted with EDTA...

not guilty enough - technicality/poor police work/just below the line for proving guilt beyond reasonable doubt. Next stop the airport

I was in South Africa on the day it happened. In all the business meetings I had in the days that followed, the universal opinion of South Africans was: "'Royd rage."

Why do they have to read out the summary of the trial? Shurely you should give your verdict and publish the summary afterward, seems quite cruel to take such a long and drawn out procedure.

I get "what" it is doing, but it seems agonsingly drawn out. Brief summary, Verdict, full summary published same day. If he is found to be innocent then he's just had to sit through all that dissection of the case somewhat needlessly. If he's found to be guilty then the full summary will allow for the appeal process if one is availble/possible. Justice should be swift, IMO.
