Supposed to be a great character. 81 is not bad inners.

Can't think of any Lawarence of Arabia quotes to send him off with but hope he gets his Passive Infra Red fixed.

One of the huge characters of the British screen, they don't make them like him anymore. RIP

Can't hear his name without thinking of this Spitting Image sketch.

Top chap.

our local paper ran a piece this year about the sale of some kit that may have belonged to LoA.
they showed a quarter page picture of O'Toole as LoA.

LoA is probably the 2nd greatest film ever made. Just pipped by the 3rd man.

Happy trails

Apart from Laurence of Arabia which other good films did he do?

Well, eight Oscar nominations suggests he did some.

Just heard a fantastic story about O'Toole, on a collosal bender in a bar in Ireland the owner wanted to close and kick everyone out. O'Toole tried to persuade the man to stay open but he wasn't having it so O'Toole bought the place so the party could carry on. Could be a myth but made me laugh this morning.

"Recently", off the top of my head, he was King <insert ancient name here> in Troy and was rather good as the voice of Anton Ego in Ratatouille.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits, and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd tow'rs, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

Thomas Beckett, which is where the quote/picture came from in my post above yours. The quote is from the famous 'will no-one rid me of this meddlesome priest?' scene. The picture isn't.

Why?

The picture isn't.

Why?

It's a publicity composite?
