Took this one on Sunday, walking from Uffington White Horse to Wayland's Smithy.
It was some distance away, and very difficult to actually take a photo of with a compact camera.
The mono version shows the effect best, anyway it's called a Kelvin-Helmholtz formation, and it's a pretty rare phenomena, in cloud terms. Never thought I'd ever see one. Sorry, cloud geek thing, not to worry...

Andy, I just chuck them into Photobucket. I do use Flickr, and I ought to use it more often, but I found it a pain to use with a mobile device, issues with logging in, etc, and I found Photobucket to be such a doddle when I just wanted to get a pic onto STW quickly, but I can see advantages with Flickr. I am a fundamentally lazy git, and Flickr really needs tags and stuff to work properly, so I take the simple route.
The leaves one was pure chance, I was in Lacock, and wandered down to a little ford where a stream runs through the village, and the sun was just shining through a small gap and picking out the leaves against a dark background.
It works best, I think, as just the reflection in the water; the sun on the leaves is very bright, and overpowers the photo.
It was taken with a Lumix TZ30, so exposure is less easy to control. I love your photo of your little lass, btw, she has a properly grumpy expression on her face, which is very endearing! 😀

I keep finding this thread to be really inspirational. Swoosh, I really like your pier and beach fence pics, and I love the seaplane photos, peasant, are they water bombers?
Can one of you photo nerds point in me in the right direction for a website teaching the basics of photography.
One designed for idiots. And idiots armed with cheap point and shoots. Picked up one of this Lumix FT4 jobbies to live in my bumbag/rucksack. Far from the greatest camera I know, would mind knowing how to get the best out if it.
