it's probably more to do with population density than anything else
Never a truer word spoken 😉
So unsurprisingly its probably more to do with population density than anything else.
In what way?
So unsurprisingly its probably more to do with population density than anything else.
Spot on. 🙂
At Sainsbury’s Garthdee in Aberdeen this evening. Petrol station closed but there’s a tanker restocking. 20 minutes later there are a handful of cars. Within a few more minutes there was a queue blocking the access road. So yeah there’s no problem. The BP in Culter is still closed.
I've tried 12 garages since Sunday, 50% only had petrol, the others nothing. I now wished that I'd panicked last week and filled up when on 50%.

Er....
No fuel in Aviemore, Newtonmore or Carrbridge
Whoosh!
The bloke brandishing a knife whilst kicking in a citroen at a petrol station is on tonight's ITV News....
He looks, erm, a bit of a stereotype but I won't say which one.
Anyway...
I suspect petrol worries won't be high on his agenda for very long!

Can I ask in what part of Britain this is?
No queues in the 5 stations I passed on my way home in Worcestershire....because they were all dry
Blaming the media is just lazy
This crisis has been building for months, about a quarter of the missing drivers have gone back to the EU
Why have they gone back? Because Brexit happened? And who caused that then?
No. The media is totally culpable in this shit show and has been instrumental in our undoing for years, reporting how anything that's a bit shit is all the fault of foreigners because that's what sells newspapers to angry white people.
We just have to get used to the reality of Brexit Britain. It would be easier if people weren’t still being told everything is going to improve, when the reality is that we need to be more resilient consumers
In Case You Missed It,
That SniffPetrol link posted a couple of pages back lampooning a self-created UK fuel crisis, it was dated 2008. Whatever we're doing here, it sure as hell isn't "learning from past experiences."
Where we’re going, we might need woad.
That deserved more recognition.
Whoosh
Ok ok...I'm tired
Wow, that YouPube link is depressing. The hell is wrong with people?
Wait till peeps read about the likely shortages nearer Christmas. No, I'm not inciting people to panic buy, just saying is all, like I have that influence anyway.
It won't just be turkey that's going to be unobtainium.😟
No shortages in Falkirk (it is only 2 miles away from the refinery though)
Wait till peeps read about the likely shortages nearer Christmas.
There was a retail analyst on Radio 4 about 6 weeks ago, before all this nonsense, saying that post-Brexit, the just-in-time supply chain is simply no longer viable in the UK, but unfortunately for us, that’s the way the entire economy is presently structured
What’s going on at the moment would suggest that he’s right.
It’s only going to get worse, because this bunch of clowns don’t look like they’ve got any answers for the shitshow they’ve created
Boris Johnson Broke Britain.

Sure they have.
"Covid."
Coronavirus 2 couldn't have hit at a better time for these shitbags, it's the perfect excuse. Nothing to do with brexit, guys, it's all that virus's fault. Brought over here by dirty foreigners in the first place. Fancy a game of Whiff-Waff?
Boris Johnson Broke Britain.
I rather suspect that he simply closed the (strong and) stable door when the horse was already halfway to New Mexico.
We created a poisoned chalice, and gave it to a pillock.
Then, we took that poisoned chalice, and gave it to another pillock.

Are we ****ing learning yet? Chrissakes, you can potty train toddlers faster.

Blame covid, blame the media. Blame the RHA who've been shouting for almost a decade about the problem and have been completely ignored. Actually blame them most of all because that way you can both point the finger elsewhere, AND demean the people you damn well should have listened to. And as Mefty's link shows, people are swallowing it hook line and sinker.
The thing I don't get, is that we have the least trustworthy government this country's had in anyone's lifetime. So it's totally reasonable that when they say "there's no shortage, don't panic-buy", everyone panic buys. They have no authority and no trust. But why is it that when the exact same arseholes who get ignored when they say "don't panic buy" are absolute gospel when they say "blame the RHA"?
Are we ****ing learning yet?
Not yet, no.
just about to pedal to work this morning as MrsRNP car is out of petrol - noticed a few other cyclists when out with doggo first thing.
I’m going to nip out in a bit and do a roadie loop down the valley. This should take me past 3 petrol stations. It’ll be interesting to see if any of them are open again yet

Easy it’s Brexit denial, they can’t cope with the reality in front of their eyes, it’s always something else causing the problem and that’s the only thing they are willing to hear.
Took the car out in the pissing rain last night to find some diesel as I don't have enough to get to work on Thursday....
This is just north of Peterboghorror.
First petrol station - petrol but no diesel
Second petrol station - the same
Third petrol station - petrol & diesel, with £40 limit althtnot controlled at the pump so cod have just filled up if I was being a dick.
Leicestershire here and it has been bedlam. Roads blocked all over the place by queues for service stations loads of dangerous road situations caused as a result. Not sure about now, I filled up (luckily) last Thursday, so I can afford to be philosophical about it.
Quick question. That bloke who pulled the knife - anyone care to speculate which way he voted back in 2016?
😅
We created a poisoned chalice, and gave it to a pillock.
Johnson pretty much single handedly created most of the myths that fed growing anti-EU feeling in the UK. He didn’t just step in and use it to gain power, he fed and nourished it as a “journalist” writing jokey and inaccurate pieces about “Brussels” for money and attention long ago.
No apparent issue in South Edinburgh. Filled up with diesel last night, all pumps seemed to be in use and several other filling stations had no queues. Must be a southern thing!
I see the government (such as it is) is this morning coming out of hiding and doubling down on their ‘blame the RHA’ narrative.
Nothing to do with them, guv. Nothing to do with Brexit. It’s all the fault of those bloody lorry drivers. Or the people who could have been lorry drivers, but aren’t.
It was probably leaked to the media by the 'government' because they know they have already (cue tears of rage from the population who also panic buy this year's 'must have toy') 'lost' Christmas. I could believe that - it is their MO. Stir the anger now, plant the seed. It is all the fault of someone else - remainers or people manipulated by remainers.
We are through the looking glass, people.
Could this be it? The dead cat Johnson is praying for? Maybe this time actually get a shit fired across the bows of a 'hostile' French fishing boat?
When are we planning on dressing up a few asylum seekers in French paratrooper uniforms, shooting them, and claiming the French tried to invade?
Still no diesel within fumes range for me. That's 6 filling stations. 1 has petrol only. Hampshire.
Did a late shop at Tesco extra Irlam last night (after 10pm) some pumps closed, 1 other car on forecourt, drove on and got £30 of diesel (no limit as far as I could see). Top tip if you live near Irlam that Tesco store is always dead for shopping and fuel always do my xmas food shop there as it's bliss compared to Asda at Trafford Park, how the place is still open I have no idea.
how the place is still open I have no idea
I'm sure that will be sorted in the next few months.
To be fair @mattcartlidge, anything is bliss compared to Asda at Trafford Park 🙂

Yep, it's going to be like the Cratchit's up and down the country this Christmas.
Still, the veil of Brexit has to slip at some point.

Bring it on, I say. The hysteria caused by not being able to get hold of cheap tat, turkeys and mince pies will be satisfying to watch.
Or the people who could have been lorry drivers, but aren’t.
Shit that's me, I can drive. Why aren't I taking my HGV test?
Actually, two petrol stations I went to in Edinburgh yesterday had no fuel and the third only had premium unleaded which is what my bike takes.
Kind of wishing I'd fixed the faulty low fuel light on it now!

I grew up near this garage and went to Welling school.
This doesn't surprise me, its not a very nice area and full of people like this.

Also, did anyone hear the news on R2 after Pop Master yesterday. Some woman interviewed at a fuel station "had to take my son out of nursery to go and find fuel. Thank god I did."
Jebus wept. We're ****ed, aren't we?

My Brother is a store manager for Morrisons.
Usually, by this time of year they'll have a trailer semi-permanently docked in the warehouse out back, full of Xmas crap, but it's not due until "some time in November", they're struggling to keep the shelves stocked at the moment and there just isn't the capacity in the system to handle the usual Christmas rush.

Project Schadenfreude methinks.
We've already got way too much material shit in any case.
Rubbing hands in anticipation.
Disclaimer - unless beer supplies are affected, in which case I'm gathering an uprising at the South end of London Bridge in time honoured fashion.
Here's hoping a disrupted Christmas finally turns people against this government. It would seem quite likely.
A failing education system, underfunded NHS, police, people using food banks - fine with me...
What, no artificial Christmas trees? BURN THEM!
