[Closed] people who smash up bikes locked in a public place

I think more vandalism. I live in Innsbruck where most people have a "city bike" - any kind of old bike that still semi-functions. In the last month my housemate's got thrown in the river - along with all the other bikes in that area that weren't locked to anything (most people here just lock wheel & frame together). Then last weekend someone knocked mine over and must have really stamped on the wheel to bend it so much, and we found my basket about 50m down the street.

I also tend to think I could kind-of understand it if they were taking it to use, but just to destroy something seems pointless...

it's mostly beer fuelled cocks.

legalise cannabis and other recreational drugs and it won't happen so much.

Thing is, if it happened to a street of cars there would probably be a public lynching of the prime suspect.

I parked up near a towpath the other day and went for a ride, came back an hour or two later to find my car had been keyed. Theft I can understand, but mindless vandalism like that, what have they gained? I can even understand the mentality of releasing pent-up aggression by beating the sh1t out of something/one, but causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage for the sake of dragging a key a few feet? "You've got something nicer than I have, so I'm going to ruin it for you." It's getting to the stage where there's little point in working hard to buy nice things because some vindictive scrote is just going to destroy it or take it.

Unless you own a bmw x6, in which case it would be quite understandable.

Or you've just knocked me off my bike, I'll key your metal box as badly as I bloody well can 🙂
