MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
We will soon be handing our Aygo back to Toyota ....Hooorah !! 😀
However 2 of the bumpers have reasonable scratches on them. ie the corners 3" x 1", and 1 alloy is scuft.
Toyota said that its actually British Auctions or someone who come and take the car, and will assess any damage.
The man at Toyota finance said they don't even pass on the bill to the customer in some cases, and it shouldn't be more expensive than going to a local Toyota dealer...
I was just thinking of taking it to the local paint shop and getting them to do it. If they may not even bill should I?
About 15yrs ago I had a Fiesta on PCP, and they didn't even ask any questions when I handed it back, but I hadn't scratched it either...
What experience have others had?
Ta
I worked for a finance company with a large PCP arm.
It will entirely boil down to the T's and C's you agreed to at the start of the agreement, but fair wear and tear is always covered, accidental damager usually isn't (some exceptions for Vans, but limited to the goods area).
It's all a bit of a gamble really, there's a decent chance they're turn a blind eye to the odd thing, scratches if they're not to the metal, dents if there's tiny and 'smart repairable' and lightly scuffed wheels, but then they might not, you hear horror stories sometimes a guy who got stung for not only 2 new wheels for a 3 series because they were scuffed but 2 run flat tyres to go on them and it was over a grand.
Are you returning it to the dealer or are they picking it up? If you're taking it back ask them to cast and eye over it before you return it.
When I handed mine back. I had to deliver it to the auction site in Edinburgh.
Read your t+c's mine said car had to be inspected from a metre away. I took pics of him inspecting leaning over bonnet rubbing fingers over alloys etc not some you can do from a metre away not unless you have gibbon arms.
Tried to lump a bill onto me for scratches scuff marks etc I sent them pics of the inspector not following the correct inspection. Bill was withdrawn.
Personally I would at least get it quoted.
Then if they were to take the mick you have a comparator.
I would also take pictures at time of collection and get a receipt with both date and time. I have had to deal with contesting Speeding / other tickets for auction house drivers doing collections before.
Seems to me that they've cut monthly rates to the bone so now try and recoup some additional profit at the end of the contract. We've had several issues including £1000 worth of 'damage' found on an immaculate 2 year old Renault which we contested and had reduced to a £60 chip in the screen. I'd definitely get it repaired if its noticeable and as above document everything before and during the collection/inspection. If its going to BCA or similar they also often state that the inspection on collection is not final and charges can be levied if damage is found during the inspection on their premises. Not sure how you'd contest that one.
If you don't hand it back but keep it is any damage irrelevant?
I bought a T5 from VW at the end of its contract earlier this year, they charged for excess mileage but didn't inspect the vehicle (actually never physically checked the mileage). Drive shaft went half way up a mountain the following week but that's another story!
If you don't hand it back but keep it is any damage irrelevant?
Er, why would they care if you are keeping it?
Chances are they'll abide by the BVRLA guidelines, so have a read to see what they must do and what you may fall foul on.

I'd be ignoring this for starters.
I never do the handback thing by trading it in just before the end of the PCP period 2-3 months beforehand. Assuming it's worth more than the final payment value it's down to the garage who are taking it as a trade in to accept or reject any damage.
Er, why would they care if you are keeping it?
That's my point I guess, it's under the mileage limits and we're keeping it so I'll pay the final payment and accept the damage (my wife ran it along a hawthorn hedge!) as it doesn't worry me too much. I'm assuming the garage/finance company don't care if you pay the final payment as they've got their money.
If you are near Wetherby I ll give you a quote if you like. I run a bodyshop business. Www.expresscarbodywork.com
Or post some pictures of the damage and I love give you prices so you can decide what to do
I had an Audi A6 on a PCP which I gave back at the half way break. We have to park our cars on the road and so it had a few bumper scratches which I thought about getting sorted out but didn't get around to, I just assumed they would come back with a bill. I didn't hear anything for ages, and eventually called them to see if there was anything to pay. They said no, its all signed off the matter is closed.
Happy days.
