Someone just asked me this question and I wasn't sure of the answer, I know someone here will know?
"Guy that sits next to me has had his PC wiped and he's trying to load everything back on. He's got a bunch of stuff on his phone that is not bought from I tunes any idea how to transfer it back to his PC?"

Lots of info out there, it is possible but a pc of IT savy is required to do it for free IME. Though considering the cost of replacing the music, as small donation for one of these utilities is no cost at all.
Not had to do it myself so can't recommend anything specific.
