anyone own one, any opinions?

was looking at this or the canon s90 but think i will go for the lx3 for the faster lens and it's cheaper. shame the zoom is a little less.

also anyone got one for sale?

I have one really good for landscape shots and low light stuff. I really like it.

I've got an LX2, which I thinks a great little camera.

The LX3 looks even nicer though, especially when you consider all the add ons available for it; the optical viewfinder attachment looks wicked, wish I could stick one on mine 🙁

Go for it!

Just swapped my G9 for one, initially thought for the worse because the point and press shots were a little lack lustre.

Sort of forced to learn a bit more about the settings and experiment, and so far has proved to be worth the effort.

There has just been some new firmware released, supposedly has a HDR mode in Scenes, but just comes out over saturated. But most importantly means you can now set auto bracketing up to +3! which makes for much better HDR by combining.

Also really liking the wide angle. No plans to sell yet. Haven't missed the zoom.

Oh and continuous shooting @ 2.5fps is fun.

I bought an LX3 last year and it gets used way more than my Nikon D300 simply because its smaller, lighter and less obvious.

Whilst its images side by side to the Nikon's come close (but obviously not as good) its better simply because it gets used more.

Cracking camera you won't regret buying.

I have the Leica DLUX4 which is basically the same camera but badged Leica, it's an awesome piece of kit, I think the only difference is you get better jpeg processing which the Leica and much better RAW processing software. As has been said before you can get great low light results. Zoom isn't great but you get great landscape capabilities.

Great little camera, I love mine. It's small enough to take on rides without getting in the way and the fast lens is great for lower light shots. Only downside is the limited zoom, if you want a travel camera it may be a bit restricting (though I'm told the DMC TZ7 is good in that respect). Canon S90 is worth trying in a shop first, I found it too small in my hands to get comfortable with. Have fun!

hi there, i sell these and i was also an LX1 owner. This lens gives exceptional results in almost all conditions and the f2.0 lens is fantastic for depth and moody shots even in IA modes. As with most Lumix cameras they do suffer from excessive noise at higher ISO numbers but nothing to put you off IMO. Let me know if you want me to get you one as we have it on offer in my store for £304, you'll be hard pessed to beat that price in europe!
