Had a word with a couple of umbrella orgs that I know and hit the same brick wall as you. 🙁
It's one of those chicken/egg problems with no thought going into self-employed people offering specialised services.
I ended up speaking to a nice lady in CRB land and she could make no real suggestions apart from asking for a Subject Access Request from your local Police service, replaced the old Police check. It's available for any member of the public but I'm not sure whether it checks the POCA and POVA registers and list 99 which is what you need when working with kids and vulnerable adults.
Did you have any joy with British Cycling, do they have access to an umbrella body that you could use?
